O/S Daily Sunday 9th June 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Bright sunshine and blue sky this morning, nice to have some dry weather after so much rain - but more forecast after today. I have pegged a line of washing out.
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and myself enjoying first cuppas of the day, DS1 still in his pit.
Dinner last night was a cheeky chinese takeaway - was lovely as always.
We've managed to spend some time with DS2 - he's settled and ok. Lunch will be out somewhere.
Back to work tomorrow.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a fine and dry day today although upstairs, Lee is playing a stormy weather soundtrack which is quite disconcerting
.
We have our grandson staying here as his big sister was invited for a sleepover at her friend's house and so he wanted to come here on his own for a change. He is still asleep which is a minor miracle as he is normally up very early.
I am in a bit of a decluttering phase at the moment and have several boxes half filled in the dining room waiting to be donated to a charity shop. I am tired of living in a mess and so it needs to be sorted. I need to go through all my recipe books as I bought lots that look great but I have never cooked anything from them so they can go to a new home where they will hopefully be appreciated.
Right, I am gasping for a cup of tea so I will love you all and leave you, take care xx0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Blue sky and sun here too. Sadly rain back again tomorrow and the day after and the day after ........!
I enjoyed my little bus trip out yesterday and managed to avoid the rain but by heck it was nippy. I got the bus to Otley and after a wander caught the bus onwards to Harrogate. After a browse of the more expensive shops I ended up in Primark - the only shop I spent in! Nothing wildly exciting but I also got their Jo Malone smelly-likey and I am impressed! Lovely fragrance. Ok maybe it doesn't linger on the skin as long as the real thing but for £8 I'd defo buy again.
Today I suppose I ought to tackle some outstanding jobs. And if my legs co-operate I should really do some weeding in the front garden. I have given up on the back it is a disgrace. Plus I still haven't organised a new fence. I have been given the number of an odd job man !!! garden tidier so tomorrow I shall ring him and see if he can come to my rescue.
I need to dip in the freezer before I can christen today's meals. My inventory went to pot so I am back to rummaging again. But at least I am still labelling everything so that's a help!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried and lonely who need them. Yesterday's comments on lost old-stylers has set me thinking how many regulars have disappeared over the years, for whatever reason. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. Got a fair bit done yesterday within the time realms of catching up with Victoria and Love Island
My cobbled recipe of bbq beef turn out to be heaven with fall apart meat and a lovely sweet sauce. Ill have to try and remember what what in now to re create James would be proud
Plenty left over so thats tonight sorted with a jacket spud
Chatting to the chillies will be back on assuming the sun stays out they seem well although do need some sun for a while...dont we all
Meeting a friend later for a catch up but no other plans.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone0 -
Good morning, it's dry and sunny after yesterday's rain.
Dumpling i'm with you on the recipe books, I also have a lot of recipes that I've cut out of magazines etc. I've still got recipe books that were my DM's and MIL's!! if I live to be 750 I could never use all the recipes I've got. Any way these days you just have to look on the internet for recipes, there's nothing like a book though.
Glad you enjoyed your day out TA, Harrogate is nice isn't it.
DS and family coming today for lunch, I'll defrost some goulash instead of doing a roast. It's easier, and it's tasty. I hope anyway. Never used the recipe before.
Hope everyone has an ok day.
Take care folks xx0 -
Morning all.
Yesterday didn't quite go as planned, DM wasn't too well so I stayed in whilst her friend was here. They sat quietly doing the crossword until DM was tired. Then he and I had a glass of wine together.
DM is not really making anymore progress towards full recovery though I know that this works never happen. It's such an emotional roller-coaster, one day I'm full of hope and positivity and the next in despair.
No idea what today will bring me. Think I'll do some exploring!
Thoughts to all those struggling and a happy Sunday to all.0 -

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
It's sunny here but probably not for long, Beano's had a walk and is now asleep in his bed, Steve is still asleep, I'll do a cooked breakfast when he gets up.
We are in the marina for a few days being measured for a new cratch cover and toilet repairs.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -

Bright and sunny here but this is the last nice day for a week as its meant to rain every day next week ! so need to make the most of today.
It turned very cold last night and I sat here watching the TV with a blanket over me, we watched a remake of Papillion which was very good indeed and a true story too.
Onto today a few quick jobs to do this morning, I need to make the overnight oats for tomorrow and Tuesday, pack the ebay parcels and then list a few more items. Will have a quick shower and then get out for a long walk with the pup.
No cooking for me today as dd has invited us over to dinner we are having roast chicken I will only have one roastie though as the weight loss is going well, I shall fill up on loads of veggies.
Right I had better get on with my day, have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
We have rain....... again
.
Shouldn't really complain as it held off yesterday ( apart from one short sharp shower ) for the DGS football tournament. The team did well, won 1, lost 1 and drew 2.
Today DD and DGC are coming for Sunday lunch as DSiL is on his way back from Croatia. We will have lamb, cauli cheese, broccoli, roasties, honey carrots, yorkies and gravy. There is chocolate gateau and cream for pud. I don't know if Dad will arrive but he has a standing invite anyway.
I suppose I should get on and prep the veg, 'cos it won't do it itself sadly :rotfl:
Take care all

Morning. I followed a tip from MSE Newsletter for free football stuff for kids from McDon*lds. There are free soccer camps at various locations and a free app which encourages activity. Yesterday the free activity\sticker books arrived which are great for my younger grandchildren. The irony of McDon*lds providing these resources is not lost on me but I suppose they are trying and I am impressed by the quality and best of all it's all free. I thought it might be of interest to those with younger children or relatives.
I've got a few admin bits to do today and an order for wool to put together. I miss having a real wool shop nearby to see and touch the wool when choosing. I thought I needed to buy a pattern but a rummage through in my knitting box and I found just what I needed.
Enjoy your sundays.0
