Mystery shopping & HMRC

Options
Hi,
Looking for some help on what I need to do. I currently earn £20143 per year in my full time job. I've recently started mystery shopping - it's not going to be a big earner for me but I don't want to get in trouble with HMRC. Do I register as self employed? How will this affect my current job? I'll be earning no more than £20 per month mystery shopping.

You are allowed to earn up to £1000 in a "side-job" nowadays without having to declare it.

Don't even do this. It is rubbish okay.
  • I did mystery shopping a few years ago and, yeah, it kind of sucks. You have to compete with so many people it usually becomes a time sink with nothing at the end of it. Although it shouldn't affect your current job, have you considered something else?

Paid surveys worked to bring in a few extra quid for me and, these days, there are a bunch of 'handyman' apps you can use to get some odd jobs.
