Original Mortgage Application Form

Have been with Nationwide for 11 years with 5 years to go on mortgage - I need a copy of the original mortgage application form - contacted Nationwide - they say that they do not have a copy - am suspicious about this as I am a customer who still has a live mortgage with them now - any ideas how I can get hold of the documents?

If you don't have a copy and they don't have a copy - was anybody else involved e.g. a broker? What do you need it for anyway?0

Need it for mortgage mis-selling claim - self employed so believe it was with a broker - mortgage company have supplied all other documents requested but not original application which is key to claim - that is why I am suspicious - had this problem with Barclaycard in previous PPI claim but they eventually admitted having relevant docs and claim was settled in my favour - believe that Nationwide know all this.0

No harm in making a complaint and wanting a copy of documents"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Ok, so is it the broker you're considering claiming against? Have you asked them for their file?blenheim22 wrote: »Need it for mortgage mis-selling claim - self employed so believe it was with a broker
Not sure to what extent the failure to produce the file works against them.
You might want to consider whether you're likely to have a valid claim anyway, there are plenty of people posting here who think they might but can't begin to explain what the mis-selling actually was.0 -
Is Nationwide the claim is against not broker - just need the original mortgage application document from Nationwide which I had assumed they would have a copy of - I still have the same mortgage with them now so assumed that they would have the documents as this is a live mortgage.0

Why would they lie about having it?
You could put the request in writing and see what comes back.
But we lived in a different world 11 years ago so do not be too surprised if a copy does not exist.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
