I'm so annoyed with myself as I've lived my adult life just looking at the money left in my account each month and spending anything left over just before payday (rarely was), I had direct debits coming out at random points throughout the month and I just felt like I was going to live my life struggling forever despite earning an okay salary.
I found this forum a few months ago and it has honestly changed my life! I now live much more frugally, have regular savings, am overpaying my credit cards, have set up an excel file with all my debts, monitoring my credit report (discovered a default that drops off Dec 2020), moved all direct debits to payday etc. These are all things I wouldn't have dreamed of doing even 6 months ago and I now feel like I'm in control of my finances rather than the other way round. I now find myself getting more excited about overpaying a CC or loan and updating the balance on my excel file than I did about buying something I knew I didn't need.
Using Excel I've worked out that I have £7327.06 in credit cards/loans and £10601.84 in car finance left to repay. I've worked out that I can clear the credit cards and loans by May 2020 and be debt free by May 2021! Up until discovering this forum I had buried my head in the sand and I didn't even have a clue what direct debits I had coming out of my account let alone balances etc.
So again, thank you to everyone!
