Credit card for stamp duty

I’ve received a date to move into my house in a months time which is a lot sooner than I had planned (various delays and complications along the way so I can’t change the date).

I have the deposit money BUT I don’t have the stamp duty/some legal fees. My only option is a credit card and I know I can’t do this yet.

Is it possible to apply for one day a week before completion? Surely the bank won’t search me again at that stage or is that what they do? Annoyed at myself for now getting this in order but I’m separating and I should have had settlement money ages ago.. but that’s another story.

It’s not ideal I know, but is it possible? 🙈

Some lenders do credit checks before releasing the funds. I am also not sure if you can pay HMRC using a credit card.

The solicitors will want the money in their account before the completion date, therefore you won't have the option of paying by CC.

Can your family gift you the money? Potentially an issue with the mortgage company!

How long would it take you to get the extra money? As if you only need one more pay day then move the completion date, you don't want to risk having the mortgage pulled!

Some will accept CC for their own fees, but they're not likely to for any disbursements. Unless the OP means getting a cash advance via the CC.

The solicitor is fine with credit card, I already checked. The majority of the money is bank transfer anyway. He did say though that if using cc I pay a week before completion as credit companies can be slow :/

One months wages still won’t be enough but it would help a lot. Frustrating. Would they really check on the final week?

Family could help I just really didn’t want to have to do that.

I’ve just had a thought though that credit score sites take ages to update. So if I was to get a credit card say 1 week before completion, it might not be recorded in time anyway?

I paid off a credit card in March and it won’t show as paid off until it updates on Friday for example.
