Any recommendations? I have a tefal aquaspeed at present and its ruining my clothes with chalky bits  plus I need to fill it up every 5 mins. Dont really want to speed more than £60. Any recs would be much appreciated!

not much of an expert on ironing but are the chalky bits not limescale?
in which case this will happen with any iron unless you descale it or use distilled waterThe difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -

I live in a hard water area and this iron has a one touch cleaning button but it doesnt get rid of the limescale
. I know my mum has descaled it as well but its still not working properly.
Thanks for the recs everyone, I shall check them out

I bought a Philips Azur 4200 a couple of months ago, as a replacement for my last Philips Azur (5 yrs old at least) It has a "Careeza" soleplate, and I can honestly say that I always use it on a cotton setting for everything, and that it has never marked or stuck to anything. I have never had to clean the soleplate at all. I recently bought a tefal generator costing over £100 and it isn't a patch on my iron, it sticks to clothes even on low temperatures and I have had to clean on the 3 occasions I used it, so its resigned to the cupboard now. I paid only £35 from Currys for my iron which was cheap, but think I've seen it even cheaper in Empire Direct. Good Luck!0

Thanks burnsguitarman, I was actually looking at the Philips Azur range. The new ones are quite pricey! You are looking at something like £85 to get it insured as well from somewhere like Argos. I always take out the additional warranty! Hmmmm I dont think I will buy another tefal, this is the second one thats stopped working.0

I love my Tesco Value iron! Bought it a year ago for £4.95, but I believe it's dropped in price since...
To stop the "chalky bits", turn the iron down to "min" and leave it switched on (but barely warm) for an hour.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
