Left debt behind in Australia, can it be recovered in the Uk?

I have recently moved back to the UK from Australia to be with family.
I have left around 50k worth of debt behind (car loan and credit cards), I don’t have the money to pay them back.
I just left Australia without telling the companies and I was assuming that it would be hard for them to find me?. I want to know if the Australian companies can chase me here in the uk?
I am both a UK and Australian citizen.
I’m not worried about my Australian credit rating as I will not be returning to Australia
Any help would be appreciated!

Hi,
Unfortunately due to the nature of the question you have asked, you are bound to get a lot of negative responses, so I will provide you with an answer and close the thread to avoid that happening.
No one can give you a definitive answer, but it’s extremely unlikely the debts will be pursued from down under, if, it were to happen, they would have to be bought by a UK debt purchasing company, and then pursued through the UK courts, again, this is very unlikely to happen due to the fact they would need to trace you, and all the other various costs involved, and the fact foreign debts virtually never get enforced in the UK.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
