O/S Daily Tuesday 4th June 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Bright start but rain forecast for later, cooler too. Got a line of washing line dried yesterday - but not enough to make up a load today.

DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and eating my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.

Dinner last night was chicken in sauce with HM egg fried rice. Tonight will be fish, chips/jacket potato and beans/veg.

Yesterday work was busy not helped by the fact that 2 members of staff have gone sick - not sure if either will be back today - but staffing today isn't such a difficulty as it was forward planned yesterday but not the end of day procedure. I expect we'll be busy again today as there has been a mail out and lots of unhappy customers are visiting. It's my short day so I may or may/not get to finish early depending what happens with the sickness situation, so I may be asked to stay late. We'll see.

Keep safe and well x

    Thanks for the start nmlc.

Showery again this morning, I think this is set to be the state of things all week, the outside washing line will remain unused!

The chimney sweep came yesterday, whilst he was working I cleaned the kitchen so that looks a lot better, I'll do the living room tonight once all the dust has settled. I have the stove to be re-blackened too now it's been cleaned.

Swimming, work and cleaning is the order of the day, hope you enjoy your Tuesday, take care. XX

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Sunshine and showers forecast here too. It seems a similar picture for most of us.

I have been MIA for a few days. A bout of feeling low and bereft hit me last week and I have been trying to work my way out of it. Not easy but getting used to a different life was never going to be. I feel a bit more sociable this morning (despite a rubbish night's sleep). My low mood was brought on by a phone call from eldest DGD in Lourdes. She was in floods of tears, overcome by the emotion of it all, assisting the
desperately ill people with their faith and hopes of a miracle. She still misses her grandad a lot and this brought everything back. She got home at the weekend and seems ok now. I think it was just a bit too soon for her to cope with, although she said it was a wonderful experience and something she would do again given the chance.

Today is my Tuesday meet up with my oldest friend for the usual coffees and lunch. Hmm I wonder if it will be Cheesy Broccoli Bake again! I would be distraught if they took it off the menu!

We'll have the usual wander round the shops afterwards and then I might just have a nanna nap when I get home. I was doing better with my sleeping for a while but am now back at square one again.

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all who need them. Take care all xx

    Morning everyone

The weather isn't as good today as it has been, but at least it isn't cold, so I think I will have a walk up to the supermarket for some milk and a few fresh things I need and then come back and do a bit of housework.

I managed to clear a few things out of my wardrobe that are just creating clutter, but not as much as I would have liked.

OL she said that the gripper rod was there when they moved in they decided to leave it for security. The only way anyone could get over it is through my back garden. The only way into my garden is through the side over my 6 foot gate. As she knew it was there for so many years, the least they could have done is tell me.

TA I'm sorry to hear that you have been feeling so low again. It must be really hard to adapt to such a different life. I hope that the cheese broccoli bake is still on the menu. If they ever take it off you will have to start up a petition to get it back :).

I hope that you all have a good day.

    Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off nmlc

Good to hear from you yesterday Poppy

Still finding things difficult. 35 years ago today my Dad passed and tomorrow is my birthday. So many emotions.

Not sure if DH is picking up on my feelings but he seems more confused than is 'normal', need to get an appointment for him.

    Take care

Not quite so nice here today but meant to get brighter later on, off to work today and lovely quiet Tuesdays.

Jackie a gentle walk will do wonders for you, would one of your Grandsons go with you with the dogs ?

Good morning, it's sunny here but don't know how long for, I think showers are forecast.

NMLC, I was wondering what's a mail out, sorry to expose my ignorance. Or does it mean a general communication to the people who use your services?

Ta, sorry you've been feeling so bad. You've done so well, getting on with your life, don't be too hard on yourself. Hope the broccoli bake is on the menu.

Holly, that was a nasty experience you had with the gripper rod, they are lethal. The neighbours should have told you it was there, silly people.

I'm getting back into the old routine. The dogs went home yesterday afternoon, it's been nice having them, and the one who'd had D and V was ok thank heavens. Yuk, don't want to repeat that experience in a hurry!

I'm getting to grips with my washing, got loads dry yesterday. The ironing will be building up, but I'm determined to get at it otherwise I get a towering pile. I'm sure it breeds when I'm not looking.

Going to Tai Chi this morning, I'll have forgotten what to do, then our usual quiz tonight.

Thinking of SO, Gers and her Mum, and others with life or health issues

    Take care folks xx

    Good morning everyone,

nannywindow - Thanks for your concern. Whilst my weekend is busy, it's doing much more enjoyable activities. I'll do my best to keep doing my exercises you haha!

Speaking of which, after work yesterday, I just went to the gym then yoga and home to bed. How exciting. On the plus, I notched up another NSD taking me to 2.

I downloaded a new alarm app. You can only turn it off by solving difficult maths problems, something like 85+23+69. Nearly launched my phoned out the window right enough but it eventually worked. I'm supposed to have a pub quiz tonight but it's organised by my ex-colleague who is very unreliable, so I'm going to assume it won't happen.

TA - Hope your trip out (and your cheesy broccoli bake) will help lift you. Thinking of you.
RR - Well done. Keep up the good work.

Morning all! Enjoyed the film yesterday, enjoyed more finding another couple of cinema cards that we haven't used and that were still in date, so now I know we have another few films at least that will be free. OH is going to town after to sort out his bank stuff, I am going to garden potter, do the dishes and start on the mountain of paperwork to be burned or kept...Beginning to wish I hadn't sold the filing cabinet now.
The cat is unhappy because I shut him out when we had tea last night, it was tuna salad, he goes crazy for it, and I didn't particularly want to get tripped up while making it. He also caught a small bird yesterday and attempted to bring it in to play with, so I relocated it to the garden and shut the door again..
Will be meeting friends for coffee later, will take my own biscuit bar thing to have, the tarts and muffins always look nice, but they're not nice for my figure, even if it is decreasing...

SO, the firsts are always harder, wish I could help in some way, but virtual hugs are all I can offer, hope you manage. TA, hope the bake is still on the menu too! OL, enjoy the brain sorting :) Holly, have you tied meet ups? have I asked this before? My memory is shocking so forgive me if I have....enjoy the WI :) Speky, well done on choosing an alarm that won't let you snooze..although a maths problem would not be my immdediate choice of weapon..I might end up doing as you nearly did! Jackie, look after you BP...nanny, congratulations on your new affluent status :) Gers, good job on relaxing...

    Morning folks.

A gentle start to the day, DM is still asleep so I'll leave her alone a bit longer. Another friend is coming to visit later this afternoon so I'll need to some hospitality shopping.

Virtual hugs to those who could use them. Happy Tuesday to everyone.

    Good morning everyone :hello:
Before I forget, Happy Birthday Nanny :bdaycake: Hope you have a fun filled and fabulous day xxxxx

It's a wet day here but I am relieved as I have been getting very overheated so it is nice for the temperature to drop a little bit. I was up very early as usual so I have already had a nana nap :D.

Lee has his English exam today and a lot rests on him getting a good result so I have everything crossed for him. His alarm didn't go off so it was a good job I was awake to get him out of bed.

I have taken some chicken thighs out of the freezer for dinner tonight. I think I will serve them with roast baby potatoes and green beans for a nice simple meal. I am enjoying finding meals out of the freezer, I am so glad we did the inventory, my shopping bill has come right down as well.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
