Birmingham Midshires overpayment refund

I came home from work tonight, to find a letter and cheque from the above mentioned bank with a cheque. It states "Although your mortgage account is now closed, when it was open and we changed your monthly payment, we did not always calculate it as accurately as we could have. Because of the impact this had on your account, we're making a payment of £xxx."
Has anyone else received anything similar?
And could it be that accepting this payment, you forfeit any further compensation.

I had one last year and I just banked the cheque. I am not sure I would have the time or inclination to try and squeeze extra compensation if it were possible. I was quite happy they pro-actively contacted me to sort the matter out.

How much compensation are you looking for?

Don't really know. We got around £500 now. Just trying to understand if anyone out there has any experience. I am a very trusting person, but my wife is thinking that if they have admitted a mistake who's to say there isn't more to it, and btw, it is unforgivable for a financial institution to miscalculate sums.

There isn't any further compensation to be had. They've rectified the mistake.

That's an interesting opinion to have, but most people would be satisfied with them rectifying the mistake. Financial institutions are run by humans, therefore they will make mistakes from time to time.
