O/S Daily Monday 3rd June 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Cloudy but bright and dry start to the day here, temperature has dropped.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work. I'm showered, dressed and just finished my porridge. DS2 settled and ok.

Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, swede, carrots, cauli/broc cheese, peas, green beans, yorkshires ad gravy. I think tonight we'll have something quick - possibly fish or chicken I can decide when I get home depends what sort of day we have. It will be busy - we were busy on Saturday and one of my colleagues said she thought they'd been a mail-out - as that is received it always causes customers to come in - we'll see. One of my colleagues was off on Friday also and so she may/may not be back so we could be a person short.

Yesterday we visited my parents for a while then came home and whilst I cooked the lunch DH and DS1 got the last bits planted in the garden. Just have to hope for some decent weather.

Keep safe and well x

    Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a bright and sunny morning here, not what was forecast at all. Steve has just left for work and the kids are sleeping. There is no more college for Lilly apart from going in to sit exams. I am not sure what Lee will be doing. He has his English exam soon so will be revising for that but I am not sure whether he needs to be in college or not.

I have to sort out some paperwork for Lee for next year's course. I need to sort out my desk drawers anyway so this will be a good opportunity. I can't seem to settle to do anything at the moment as my brain is going ticktickticktick and thoughts are racing away. It is most uncomfortable.

Pasta bolognese bake for dinner tonight, Steve got the mince out to defrost earlier so that is one thing ticked off the inventory. I have just made myself eggs and mushrooms on toast which was delicious but now my tum is complaining bitterly.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning all

Lovely bright day here and set in for the day I think, back to work for me why do the weekends fly by ??

Yesterday we got all of the jobs done in the morning and then went out for a lovely walk, we drove further out than normal and ended up at a beauty spot which is the highest point on the south downs, it was quite a hike up but the views were spectacular we walked about five miles and then made out way home it was a lovely day.

Onto today I need to do labels for the ebay parcels when I get back tonight and OH will nip to the PO to post them.

I think we will probably have filled pasta and salad etc for dinner tonight nice and easy for a Monday.

    Have great days all xx

    Good morning :)

Well a weekend of slothness has made the world of a difference to me and I managed 8 hours really good sleep. Feeling back to me again and it feels good

Nothing of any significance achieved yesterday so I have a big list today. The weather is gorgeous so have cobbled together a wash to get out on the line and the dishwasher is doing its stuff. On to work stuff soon but will fit in some chilli chat with a coffee at some point

Food last night was the last of the steak and kidney so will need to head back into the freezer soon wont dare to guess what comes out.

Have a lovely day all and hope you get some sun

Good morning, it's bright and breezy here, but decidedly chilly. Better than all that grey cloud at the weekend though.

We got home early Friday evening after a nightmare journey from Suffolk which took far too long, We'd spent 4 nights there after a week in London, where our family wedding went off beautifully.

Home now with loads of washing, and we've been looking after 2 family members' dogs over the weekend. I won't bore you with the story of that. One of them developed some sort of upset and had D and V, and needed a visit to the vets on Saturday morning - what a weekend it's been.

I've started to read back, over the last fortnight to catch up on everyone's doings.

    Hope everyone is ok anyway,
    Take care folks xx

    Morning everyone

I had a lovely day out yesterday with my brother. We had lunch then went for a wander through a quaint local village and had coffee and cake in a tea room there, then ended up at an art show in another village before going back to his house for the rest of the day. He said that they will have we over once during the summer and then he will see me again when my sister in law goes to football on a Sunday, so that will probably be October. :(. I feel quite sad about this. I know that they are a busy family and that my sister in law has things on at the weekend that they all go to but I can't help feeling a bit alone.

So I was on a bit of a downer by the time we got back to be greeted with a pile of branches off a tree that overhangs my back garden. I started to throw then back over the fence and caught my wrist on the spikes of some carpet gripper that had been nailed on there. It had come loose so I pulled it off and dripping with blood from where it had cut my wrist took it back to the owner. Shall we say, there were a few words over the danger of it having been put there in the first place.

Today I want to sort out my bedroom, in particular the wardrobe and blanket chest. I think there is a lot that needs to go.

I'm hoping to hear back from my two volunteering applications today. I had emails to tell me that the people who deal with volunteering were on holiday last week so I knew nothing would happen then. I'm probably going to the local WI meeting this week as well, so I am taking steps to deal with feeling lonely and isolated. I'm sure that if I can get into a few things my life will start to improve. I'll get there eventually :).

    Have a good day everyone.

    Good morning folks.

WB Scarlet - no need to go into details!

My day of sloth was good yesterday, think DM realised that I was washed out so she didn't make too many demands on me. My jimjams stayed on all day and I slept for long periods of it and even slept all night.

Today I have various phone calls to make and 'things' to sort out. Despite the cold and wet I will go out and do a walk, even if it's round the SM car park.

I hope everyone is doing OK - happy Monday to all.

    Good morning everyone,

I ensured my weekend was spent mostly with the feet up, which felt like what the doctor ordered. So, back into the swing of things again this sunny Monday morning. I'll have yoga tonight which, as always, I'm looking forward to. Something healthy and light for dinner, too.

I'm visiting back home this coming weekend, so I'm trying to pull together a plan of who I'm seeing and when, just to make sure I catch up with everyone. It means that my weekend then tends to be quite manic, as I drive across the central belt of Scotland visiting various family and friends, but it has to be done and I'm looking forward to it.

    Yesterday was NSD #1.

dumpling - I hope you find some time for yourself to collect your own thoughts.
Scarlet - Nice to have you back. Glad it all went well, apart from the journey home.

It seems like lots of people spent the weekend recharging their batteries, good for you.

Holly, I hope you hear from the volunteering people soon.

I had a down day on Saturday because I was in a lot of pain and felt as if I was on a never-ending spiral. I try to ignore it a lot of the time but it had been wearing me down especially as Steve isn't able to help as much as he would normally. I didn't do a lot all day and yesterday I felt quite a bit better.

We went to a plant nursery with Chris and Crystal and bought them a lot of plants for Chris' birthday. We also got plants for our ongoing garden project and I told Steve that the spending we've been doing on that could be my ruby anniversary present. He's been asking me for a while what I want (he's got some new golf clubs) but there was nothing and I ended up with an unnecessary Christmas present because he was adamant he had to buy me something.

Not doing too badly at the moment. Getting out locally but extreme exhaustion is an issue so have to pace myself. Its going to be an expensive month as car is due for MOT, 2 new tyres and replacement cam belt. Part of a stone wall has also collapsed so that is another expense. Insurance will not cover it as it is deemed wear and tear!

I have a funeral to go to this afternoon and then I think a glass of wine will be calling me!

I had baby GD on Thursday, then Friday and babysat Saturday evening while DD and SIL had a meal out. Sunday was making a quick breakfast before they left and then having another DD come round for a bite to eat and a catch up.

Decided I need a quiet day today apart from looking out for a grocery delivery around eleven and making up the spare bed and quick clean of upstairs bathroom as in laws arrive some time tomorrow. DD bought tickets for us for Michael Buble tomorrow night in Leeds which I am looking forward to.

I got a bit impulsive and bought a red 5 minute copper chef as it was reduced by £10 and thought it might be really useful for a DD to make omelette, burger, steak or salmon fillet quickly. It arrives today and will either give her it when I next see her or wait till she needs cheering up.

Just remembered I need to check bank account as well so will make some tea and do it now before I forget.

    Hugs to all
