My son has the following question as part of his Childhood studies course and has many ideas, just wondering if any professionals who work as or with social workers would be able to offer an opinion or facts around social workers?
Thanks
Thanks

Social work is important to families as they offer support. They also offer services that families may require, such as interventions and companies who can offer guidance and advice.
Social workers who work with families safeguard children and work with the children to see what their lived experiences are.
Parents may be in a relationship where there is domestic violence or substance misuse - the children need to have their voice heard.0 -
Call me old-fashioned but, shouldn't your son be researching the answer himself rather than his dad post the question on the internet?0

In these techie times, the son may be spoofing as his father!
In either case, I'm not wholly sure where the problem with Googling the answer lies?!0 -
He’s got a essay to complete and he’s made a great start but I suggested forums to see if any practitioners or anyone could offer any advice or opinions.
Thanks SPP. Much appreciated comments, I will pass on.0 -
Ha ha! I did a masters in Social Policy and suggested, as part of my exam revision, that I might submit an essay on 'What is Social Policy?' The (very senior and experienced) professor nearly ROFL'd, and said 'That's FAR too difficult!'
Having said all that, social work could be seen as an attempt by the state to implement its social policy...... That sentence should a) score well and b) give your son plenty to think about for the next few paragraphs!Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
What course is it? What qualification?0

Social worker here :hello: I'd recommend he takes a look at the BASW website. If he looks at the PCFs and KSS he'll have a good idea what we do and from there he should be able to explain why it's important https://www.basw.co.uk/system/files/resources/Detailed%20level%20descriptors%20for%20all%20domains%20wi%20digital%20aug8.pdf
