Got a letter from pension scheme provider in friend's name

Hi all,

I'm new to this site. I feel so rattled at the moment. Please.bare with me. :)

I basically let a former housemate stay at my new flat for two days. She just started a new job a couple of weeks ago and doesn't have a permanent address.

Since we'd moved out of our previous home a month ago she has been staying at her cousin's shared house and didn't want to make her cousin's housemates uncomfortable, which is why she asked to stay at mine a little while. I was a little reluctant at first because I'd just moved in, felt unsettled and barely had any furniture. But I felt bad not to let her stay a couple of days. So the day she came to my new flat she asked me to text her my address and I did. And today I received a letter in her name. I was annoyed because I did not give her permission to use my address for mail, but thought it may not be anything serious. However, I opened it anyway just in case, and it was from her pension scheme provider. They asked her to confirm that the details she provided are.correct and if they're not I have to call them in 30 days, otherwise they'll keep my address on file. I'm really upset that she used my address as they can get in contact with hmrc. I also live alone and just tried to apply for a single occupiers discount. I'm concerned HMRC can trace this and it can get me in trouble. I asked her why she used my address and she said that she only gave my address to her agency to post forms here. She said her manager asked for a temporary address to send the forms for her to sign and return to her employer and she had told her employer that she doesn't have a permanent address and used her mother's home to send her contract. She basically doesn't think it's a big deal  So she's claiming that she did not use my address, but the letter is asking to confirm that she is living at my address. This doesn't make sense to me as she only stayed here a couple of days. She's been staying at her cousin's so I would have thought it would make more sense to use her cousin's address? I suspect that she's not being truthful and maybe told her employer that she is living here. Now I will have to call the pension scheme provider and explain that she doesn't live here as well as hmrc. Now I'm concerned that they'll ask more questions as to how she got my address and think I'm lying and I'll have to pay more council tax. I'm very concerned about the outcome as it can turn serious. So please could someone kindly advise me on what I should do or say to them? Hope this makes sense - so angry I can't type properly. Thanks! :)
