O/S Daily Saturday 1st June 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly, and those looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Bright but light cloud, dry underfoot and warm.

DH and myself enjoying first cuppas, I'm showered and dressed and have just eaten my porridge whilst on here as I'm working this morning. DS1 still in his pit, and DS2 settled and ok.

Dinner last night was steak and ale pies, chips and mushy peas for the menfolk. I had smoked mackerel and salad. Not sure what we'll be eating tonight but have several options, so we'll see.

Yesterday I got several jobs done, I'd got the voile down from our bedroom window and in the WM by 7am and it was clean and back up by 8.30am - looks much better.

Not sure what we'll be doing later may go to see my parents this afternoon.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone

I've had to get up because it was getting so hot in bed. It is so lovely warm and sunny here and looks like being a beautiful day.

I've got a load in the washing machine and will peg that out as soon as it is finished and I think that will be the extent of the housework today.

Saturdays are a bit difficult for a walk through the park because they have a park run there so I will take a wander down to the smaller park and sit and watch the ducks on the pond for a while. Other than that I haven't made any plans for today.

There is plenty of salad bits in the fridge for dinner I just have to decide what to have with it later.

Have as good a day as possible everyone.

It's not raining - yet. There are very menacing clouds out there so the washing can stay in. I certainly don't need to water the allotment, it has rained steadily all week!

Yoga this morning then DD is coming over for a while, no other plans at the moment, I'll see what the day brings.

Hope you all have a good weekend. Take care. XX

    Good morning :)

Looks like the greyness is set in for the day here which is a shame but no rain yet so may get a wash on as a small contribution to doing something housey. Had a chat with the chillis this morning and they have so many flowers on which hopefully will provide a glut soon.

Yesterday was as predicted a total nothing day although I did venture to Sainsburys for crusty rolls. Was going to be a big salad and tuna sandwich for lunch but I fell asleep so ended up as a totally lush buttered chip butty later on :o its my wigan roots coming out. You see what I mean by my diet needing sorting proper food needs to feature at some point. Anyway todays freezer prize is chilli so will have that with a tortilla and maybe a salad

Working hard consisted of decluttering my planner so still have the same to do list as I started with. Today may well be much the same. I want to crack on with my current read too in the vain hope it will sort my head out. Its called the Chimp Paradox and makes all kind of promises for a happy life :D I'll let you know if it works

Age UK call at 10 then thats it another day of slothness :)

Have a lovely day if you can and keep smiling
  • OH is in hospital. Both he and his sister have bowel problems thanks to syrup of figs and his mother.

He is getting cleared out, but no idea when he will be home, I suspect not before Monday unless something 'major' happens.

Off to see him later today.

Morning all! Beautifully sunny day. Have already whiled away time and imaginary money dream-building a room in the garden.

Out with friends to Marlborough later for lunch and then [small] drinks with a friend this evening. I hope tomorrow is going to be sunny so I can play in the garden.
Not much to report apart from feeling quite positive [ it's always easier when it's sunny] so long may that continue.
Hope everyone has a great day!

It's a dry day with intermittent sun, so I have stripped the bed and the WM is doing it's thing. I am trying to decide whether to change the duvet for a lighter one as we have been so hot in bed lately ( ooooh ! that sounds wrong on all kinds of levels :rotfl: ).
Yesterday I sorted lots of washed holiday clothes into ironing or non ironing, but there's still a big pile in the basket :(. I also cooked a load of rhubarb in the slow cooker and it is portioned up ready to give back to Dad tomorrow.
As it's a nice day I may potter in the garden although the grass needs a cut too, but it's still quite wet underfoot. I will remake the bed later and throw the hoover around. Anything else done will be a bonus !
No idea what to have for tea, I ended up having a fish finger bun yesterday, so to those with bad eating habits at present, you are not alone :(. Note to self " must get my act together " !! Hmmm  perhaps a freezer sort might be needed too, as I have forgotten what's in there again !

Csarina I hope Mr Csarina has lift off soon and is back home tout suite.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday.
    Take care

    Morning all.

I hit the shops early doors as it's payday weekend for many which means some are doing huge shops, plus at 10.00am the booze aisles are opened.

Yesterday was a good day, DM and her visitor sat and chatted happily for a couple of hours. Later I 'caught' her walking to the loo without her Zimmer though holding onto lots of doors etc! My emotions were a mix of OMG and 'that's wonderful'. She's determined to improve so for that I must be grateful.

Today DM's crossword buddy is coming over so I will go out and meet some friends. I've got cake and scones for them and the gentleman will make the tea.

Csarina - sorry to read about MrC and hope he's back home with you soon.

Taff - enjoy your lunch out.

Redruby - you made me laugh about your OH!

Nelski - chip butty sounds great, haven't had one for years.

Camelot - glad that your DD is doing well. Washing can wait.

I hope that everyone has a happy Saturday.

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need

Hot and sunny here today, we finally got round to putting some stuff on the walls, a cross stitch sampler done as a wedding gift, a pic of Stonehenge taken by a friend, a papercut that was a mother's day gift and a rude Beryl Cook print.

I'm hoping to spend the rest of the day reading and dog walking.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
