Looking back over those goals I would say you have absolutely smashed it
- I hope you and the family make the best of christmas in the circumstances we are currently living in. We are also living with a hyper one at the moment...where do they get all their energy!! haha.

I'm pretty sure my kids suck all my energy and take it for themselves 🤣
First financial goal decided, we want the EF filled so have transferred the £900 from the PB's to the EF and moved some money from the sinking funds pots to bring the EF up to £5,000.
I get paid early this month so on Monday we're going to transfer the majority of my wage (I get just over £1000 depending on expenses) to the EF so that we can end the year with a fully funded EF. It's also part of an experiment we're going to try to see how well we manage budgeting on just DH's wage and Child Benefit (might be a short lived experiment 😉 but worth a try in dreary January).
So no contributions to our PB's or ISA until we get paid at the end of January but we think this is a good way to end the year.
We still have money in the sinking funds account, need to take some out for the DH car tax which is due at the end of the month but we have no further annual bills due until April so we should have enough time to get this built back up.3 -
What a great goal to hit for year end. I too plan to rein things in more in Jan. In theory we could manage on just my wage - but in practice it never works out that way - so want to do a final push to get our CC debt cleared and then it's on to the mortgage and pensions... and aiming for a fully funded EF too. At the moment - can't move to the next phase until more like summerAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

There's always something/someone happy to take our money isn't there?
I just keep thinking DH & I are never going to have a better time to save with the restrictions due to the pandemic, our mortgage being relatively low, the boys are still very young so are fairly cheap to run 😉 and we're both lucky enough to still be employed (even if our jobs drive us mad at times).
We're very aware that it may not always be like this and we'reconscious our cars are old, as is the boiler and longer term we hope to convert our loft, so it would be prudent to save while we can as there are a few big things potentially on the horizon.
Well today we all broke up for Xmas and in typical DancingInTheRain style we've all come down with heavy colds! The boys are tucked up in bed covered in vapour rub and dosed up with paracetamol so hoping they get a decent sleep.
DH and I will be having an early one too, no plans for tomorrow so I think a lazy day is on the cards along with keeping hydrated. Thankfully I'd popped to the supermarket for a few bits yesterday so we have enough fruit, snack, drinks and meals in for a few days.
Need to sneak out over the weekend to do some doorstep present swapping with a couple of family members and friends but other than that no plans, just how I like it the weekend before Xmas 😃
Hope everyone is doing okay xx4 -
The Christmas scavenger hunt is on our radar and I think we're going to have a go at Christmas bingo too, I'm printing them out next week as I have tomorrow booked for a last day of Christmas wrapping while the kids are at school. Get well soon all and have a wonderful Xmas, how nice it will be to go into the new year having your EF! XxPennies starts again...........2022 - £13,579.224

Thanks all, we've had a few days of feeling rubbish but have all taken it easy and had a lazy couple of days. We got out for a walk yesterday to blow away the cobwebs and that seems to have helped.
I'm still not 100% and can't seem to get a decent night's sleep anymore but could be worse so onwards and upwards...
Waking up incredibly early has had 1 benefit - my pay was in our account so I've switched the bulk of it across to our EF which is now fully funded!!! 👏👏 So pleased, just hope we can keep it intact!
The December budget is holding up well so just need to keep that going until New Year's Eve when DH gets paid and the January budget kicks in. As previously mentioned the plan is to live off DH wage and the CB (due 4 Jan) so that is our first challenge of 2021.
We still haven't set any other goals with feeling rubbish but at least we will, all being well, end the year with 1 major milestone achieved and the first aim.of the new year in place. That's good enough for us 🙂
Right, time for coffee...
Happy Monday all x4 -
