First time mortgage applicant - asked for very little documentation, is this normal?

Applying with Santander.

They asked me for a PDF of one month's payslip and then sent me an email saying thank you, we've got all the documentation we need, application has been passed to underwriters.

Is that really all the evidence they need? I thought they'd want employer confirmation of income, bank statements, etc? I know people who've been asked for copies of their employer's sick leave policies and all sorts?

Should I expect them to come back and want more?

We are on the same boat, with Halifax

I think payslip is the basic requirement, but we have given them three months

If the legal team needs further info from you, I'm pretty sure the mortgage advisor will contact you

Evidence requirements differ from lender to lender.

Often if you go through a mortgage broker, they will request for things which the lender doesn't need but the broker does for compliance reasons and/or to make sure that they're giving us advice appropriate to our circumstances.

In the event of underwriters needing more info, they'll ask.

Have applied with nationwide and we've only provided payslips so far. We did need to bring all kinds of things for the application appointment in branch (like you say evidence of sick pay) but that was more for their mortgage protection advice (critical illness and life insurance) and not for the actual mortgage application.

Our application with Natwest via a broker is up to six months payslips, job contracts, and three months bank statements. Not sure if its the underwriter stage or not, the broker just says the bank have requested it.

it may depend if your applying for a mortgage with your own bank.
I had my account years and they said they could see my salary etc going in so I wasn't asked to provide anything, they only wanted info for my partner whom didn't bank with them.
