For any reason
I have only ever been in hospital once having teeth out and it was a nightmare , couldn't stop crying after and they wouldn't let me leave until I stopped crying

My mother being treated as a time-waster by her GP for two years. By the time the atrial fibrillation was finally diagnosed, she was seriously ill and had a pacemaker fitted 10 days after diagnosis.
I've had pretty good treatment, both at GP level and in secondary care, so it isn't all bad.0 -
Being trapped in a room with someone punching me because they were upset their routine check up had been cancelled at short notice because their dentist had been rushed to hospital and I couldn't see them because I had my own patients and the other dentists toothache patients to see.0

Being discharged from the maternity ward whilst I was trying to convince them how poorly I felt. I had sepsis and subsequently ended up in HDU, very scary times and left me with a few mental health scars. That said I truly believe we are very lucky to have our NHS and I get cross about these medical negligence companies advising us to sue, mistakes are made for sure but it’s not the way to tackle them by taking more money out of the system.0

Discovering my medical records had been put in a cloud accessible for others to download and also finding I had actually downloaded the medical records of other people.0

When my brother collapsed the emergency services and critical care team were brilliant.
However, everything went downhill from there.
He was transferred from one hospital and back again twice. One hospital not knowing what was going on and having to be advised by family.
Records and scans were not transferred despite being queried by family until scans were done again.
He was put in a geriatric ward as that was the only bed they had and then ended up finally in another ward where his consultant was a specialist in a completely different area and knew nothing about his condition.
Family had to continually push for meetings with staff to find out what was going on. On turning up for some no one knew about any meeting but they would" try to find someone to talk to us".
Post it notes were left on his bed.
I could go on........
We fought to get him out of hospital and he was discharged under NHS funded care.
This was then assessed again and passed over to Social care which was a joke. This was hugely stressful on top of everything else and was making my SIL ill with worry.
He died two weeks later at the age of 47.
SIL is currently going through a complaints procedure regarding the social care assessment with the advice of an advocate for no other reason than to try to stop other families having to go through what they went through.0 -
My brother presenting to his GP with dysphasia (inability to eat) and rapid unexplained weight loss for 3 months and being fobbed off as having anxiety.
He was told three days ago that he is terminally ill with cancer ravaging his body, the primary tumour being in his oesophagus. He has "weeks not months"
The red flags were there. If his GP had taken him seriously we might have been blessed with some more time. My brother is very unlikely to see his 35th birthday. He has a 2 year old son.
I will be making a complaint. If my complaint stops just one family from going through the utter hell that we are going through now, it will be worthwhile.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards.
