Fair enough. Would buying with a parent or using a guarantor be an option perhaps?

My parent is retired which rules that out and i am not even sure if a guarantor is an option for mortgages? Even if it was finding someone who would be willing to cover a couple hundred grand would be difficult at best and not something i am comfortable with.

If you're not immediately going to be living in the property, could you rent it out and get a BTL mortgage? No idea if this is a feasible option, just trying to think out of the box.

I have thought about this but for the last 5 years i have basically been a nomad. All I own in this world is two cars (1 in each country) and a storage locker with my life in. My accommodation is provided with my contract and i use air b&b when I am home. It is hard to explain but i want/need something that is mine, i need roots and somewhere that is my home

Forgive me for being ignorant or stupid here but, I'm at no greater risk of losing my position than anyone else in england. Even if I fail to keep up repayments the house gets repossessed like any other if I'm in the country or not.

Not the basis on which mainstream lenders conduct their business. They have no need to. That's the bottom line.

A very different world to over a decade ago. Times have changed.
