I filled my app in at homebase and used the card when i spent £1.49 today. All the staff mentioned the min spend of £50 to get the free voucher. Somebodys wrong:confused:
  • Somebody at Homebase has got it wrong haven't they? Perhaps they have changed the goalposts in light of loophole? I am going to try later today (may just buy some cheap Christmas decorations) and see if I am lucky!!

I've just been to Homebase this evening (braving the pouring rain!) and applied for the "spend&save" card only to be told the minimum spend for the voucher is £50. I insisted twice among 2 staff at the desk, asking where does it say that, but no go.
There is no way i can spend £50 before Sunday, I'm really bitter about this. What a waste of my time!

I was just told you didnt have to buy anything yesterday!!
  • My partner and I went out yesterday and drove 15 miles shopping, would have gone the other way to the shops but this was the only way where there is a homebase. Drove out of our way and had to go in in the pouring rain and got the loyalty card. Told by all the homebase staff that you have to spend a minimum of £50. I told them that the conditions of the loyalty card had changed recently and they all said no way. One of them called the manager and he said you have to spend £50 plain and simple and there was no way on God's earth that Homebase was going to give a tenner away for spending a quid. "Do I want them to go bankrupt?" he said. Sooooooooo what happens from here? Taffy

Could you buy something for that price and then take it back as unsuitable?? Or is that naughty??
  • Why do the staff in homebase need to know how it works for ppl to get the 1000 points? Can't one just pick up a new card, present it when paying £1 at the till and the points will be added automatically?

Anyone got a link to the T&C's to print and show them in store

    What's this all about?

It's possible to get a free £10 Homebase voucher. Homebase is offering 1,000 loyalty points (enough for the voucher)when those who don't already have an account sign up for its loyalty card (not a credit card) in-store and buy something before 2 December.

What do I need to do?

There used to be a £50 minimum spend this get the voucher, but, as of 15 November they changed the T&Cs so there's no minimum spend.

Therefore simply spend in store, if you don't need anything from there right now, just buy the cheapest thing you can find (the sweets by the till for example) as there's no minimum spend. The voucher will arrive in January.

This is a loyalty card not a credit card

Don't worry you don't need to sign up for a credit card. This is a loyalty card (think Tesco Clubcard or Nectar card).

    Back to the original post...

    Hi,
Thought i,d let you know about a special offer at Homebase.
Spend and Save cards are a loyalty scheme BUT till 2nd December any new customers signing up for one will be given an extra 1000 points as soon as they spend anything in store and swipe their card, even if its just 1p!!!
This means that they will receive a minimum voucher in January for £10 (equates to 1000 points)

Where did this information come from??
Like many others I've looked in store and on the Homebase website and found no mention of this offer or changes to the T&C's for spend & save cards. A flyer in my last mailing from Homebase promotes the £10 back when you spend £50 with a voucher on the bottom that you need to get the rewards.
I was going to go in today with hubby and get a card in his name (as I already have one) and spend 99p on 2 energy saving light bulbs - buy one get one free minus 10% today. If this offer is right I could do the same for each of my 3 sons and get a total of £40 in rewards for a £3.56 spend and get eight energy saving light bulbs which will save me more money!
  • In my Homebase she said you dont have to buy anything. They can simply swipe the card. But I spent over £1 just to be sure.
