How does this compare, in terms of pounds per hour, with earning minimum wage just doing a normal job? Without knowing that, it's impossible to tell if it's a money-spinner or just a badly paid job.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1 -
I assume this was declared to the HMRC?
If you are on benefits you need to tell the DWP as well.

I see how you can make decent money from this, but I downloaded BeMyEye and the PC World missions local to me for example had so much info to remember about processors, memory boards etc there's no way I could do it without looking at my phone and giving away that I'm a mystery shopper. Money to be had but it's sure difficult to get it for a fiver.0

Seems easy if you don't realise you have to do a tax return. As Calley says, it can complicate matters if on benefits too.1

When I did video mystery shopping, you could earn a reasonable hourly rate by going out and doing jobs all day. No big deal, really.0

First thing I thought too. I'm 100% sure just doing a part time job for a couple of days a week pays better per hour/year than this kind of crap.0 -
I am thinking of applying to be a mystery shopper but am conscious of scams. Is there a verified list or any advice on how to start. Thanks in advance0

There's hardly any shops open, plus it would be pretty awkward trying to quiz a staff member when we're only meant to be out for essentials etc. Many businesses have had to try to survive the downturn due to the pandemic etc. Not really much mystery shopping work about just now.1

There's a great list of reputable companies on the main Mystery Shopping thread - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5159122/
Understandably, that thread is a little quiet at the moment, but there are signs that the mystery shopping industry will be back... potentially a lot of covert Covid-safety checks on their way!
