Mortgages for temp/agency workers

I work part time in the public sector and hoping to take on more hours/change roles once my LO goes to nursery or school. My partner is potentially going back to agency work as he'd get a higher rate of pay and more opportunities for overtime etc.
I was wondering how easy/hard it would be to get a mortgage with one applicant in a secure job and the other in temp roles?
I have a mortgage solely in my name at the moment but when we move we would like to both be on the mortgage and obviously with both of our incomes included we could borrow a bit more.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks xx

There are lenders that can cast the net for agency workers (eg. natiowide) however quite often a minimum period or evidence of long-term work is needed...in conjunction with your other circumstances a broker would definitely be advisable.
Is your OH in a permanent position at the moment? Even if his salary has higher potential as a contract/agency workers,it may be more prudent for application purposes to postpone moving to a contracted role until further down the line. Aka, not setting anything up until the mortgage is arranged and you're both comfortable with any waves that contracting might bring. You wouldn't want to accidentally get yourself involved in mortgage fraud!0 -
He is in an extremely low paid job as his ex employers company went in to administration, so took the first job he could get just so we had some sort of money coming in. We are just surviving at the moment so we need to change things quickly before we have no savings left.
I understand that it is harder to get a mortgage when you are in agency work. I just wondered with me having a permanent Job would help the matter if we were to apply for a mortgage in future should we decide to move?
