Freesat box won't work with all in one remote!

Hello
Be grateful for any help you can give me,as I feel really out of my depth.
I have a (Grundig) freesat box and a Panasonic TV.The remote control for the freesat box recently stopped working (i.e nothing happened when I tried to change channels, even if with new batteries). So I bought an all in obe remote control from Currys/PC World. The sales assistant said that it worked for both TV and digital boxes.
However, having programmed it,it doesnt!-the best I got was the one channel...BBC1. ..and the remote wasn't able to switch to another channel. Now all I get is, "No signal could be found" When I tried to do the set up,it just said:-"no channels found".
And yet with the Grundig freesat remote it did let me change channels.
Aren't universal and "All on one" remotes supposed to work on boxes too?-what can I do?

Normally this means you've got the wrong code for the TV or Freesat box. Most big brands have multiple codes in the sheet of paper in the packaging and you'll have to cycle through them to find the right one. Same with the Freesat box.

But your post suggests the Freesat remote stopped working and has started working again? But you bought the universal to replace that which is now working?

No the freesat remote simply stopped working and is kaput.
Yes there was a booklet accompanying the all in one remote with codes in...there was one code for freesat which I inputted, and managed to get BBC1 but it wouldn't switch to any other channels!
Was it the freesat code that I needed or the Panasonic code for the TV?

Are you sure it's the remote that is faulty? That sounds more like an issue with the box as not being able to find channels would not be due to the remote. If you don't have the original instruction manual for the box or it's not much help I would Google the make and model of your box along with the "no channels found" fault and see what comes up. Alternatively, someone else here might have a better idea of what's going on with the box.

Does the freesat box have controls on its front panel ? If so, can you switch channel using that ?

As above, I would want to first ensure that the box itself is working. If neither the original nor the new remote control works, then you have to consider that the fault could be with the box rather than the two remote controls. And "no signal" sounds like something the tuner would report, rather than the remote control. (The box should not consider it worthy of note that there is no signal fromthe remote - that's the normal status. And the remote control transmts, but does not receive, signals.)

There is a way to test whether the original remote control is transmitting anything... obviously you can't see anything since it's infra red, but digital cameras typically do pick it up. So if you view the business end of the remote through the screen of your smartphone or digital camera, you should see it flashing.
