lemontarts diary of a verging on skint singleton

Sat down today and worked out the cost of my addiction to red bull, well mine and the pet teens that is..............based it on the cheapest I can get it a5 69p a can and it came out at over £500 a year.........................now mega depressed as don;t drink, don't smoke and rarely go out other than to the free seats via this site at the cinema, I even looked wholesale prices but only a couple of pounds saving a year if I could get them wholesale in the first place......................

Guess given my outgoings are more than my incomings it is gonna have to go or at least be cut back to a treat now and again.......................

Also used the demotivator tool to check my now £2.00 a week hot chocolate habit from the drinks machine at work...............so have bought a tin of hot chocolate powder for 99p in a cheapo shop (cadbury's of course, a gal has to have something nice ) and put a mug and a spoon in my bag for work so that should half that expense too.

So cut backs to day should save me in excess of £550 in one yr .............now don't anyone talk to me for a few days whilst I and my pet teen go cold turkey on the red bull...........................!!!!!!
I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.

Also, it's not very good for you. So that's another reason to ditch it.

Got an SOA for us to attack lemon?

I was the same as you, and thought of it as my only treat, but Gemmzie is right, it is bad for you.

I managed to wean myself off it thankfully.
  • have you tries the own brand red bull type drink? Aldi do six cans of their version for £1.29 so this would save you £343 based on two cans a day. I gave it up earlier this year when I started having palpitations!

whats a soa - yes tried the cheap versions, yuk as I only drink one can a day might as well give it up pet teen drinks same so both going to try even if we manage to restrict it to a week end treat it will be a saving

Saving it for a weekend treat sounds like a fantastic idea!

I'm allergic to caffeine though, so I've never tried it! :o

I did the same calculation with Pepsi Max the other week.
I was buying in bulk/bogof for value ... and drinking 3 cans a day because I had it available!
    Switched to squash instead.
    Saving a fortune.

Tesco Kick tastes exactly the same as red bull and is £1.39 for 6 cans. I love Red Bull but will never buy it again unless in a pub!
Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month
  • Red Bull gives me the runs really bad, maybe I should get addicted too, could probably lose a couple of stone by Xmas but wouldn't spend anything as wouldn't be able to leave the bathroom!:rotfl:
