O/S Daily Sunday 26th May 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy and overcast start to the day - rain forecast, we'll see.
DH and myself enjoying first cuppas, and I've just eaten my porridge, I'll be going for a shower shortly. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was chicken in hunters sauce with HM veg rice - very nice it was too. Lunch today will be pork loins, sausages, chips, peas and gravy - DH's request when I told him I wasn't going to cook a roast (he wasn't happy - I told him tough luck and closed the conversation straight down) I had planned the pork loins or gammon for today's lunch anyway - at least with what he's chosen it reduces the prep time substantially, I'll have mixed veg with mine instead of peas.
Yesterday work was quiet, probably due to the fact that it was the last day of a decent forecast and everyone wanted to get out and about doing leisure things before the rain today and tomorrow! We went to visit the parents yesterday too.
Today we are planning on visiting the big orange shed shop, for weedkiller, bug killer, tomato plants and grow bags - then chilled day.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It's a quiet start on here, I hope it means everybody is having a lie in. I was back to clock watching again last night. Bah.
Evidence of light rain overnight but sunny spells are forecast. Sounds like that will be the story of the week according to Carol.
It's my baby's birthday today. He will be 44!! It's frightening how the years fly by. Weather dependant he will be celebrating by playing cricket! Our local team is hosting an all day inter club challenge (or something!) subject to cancellation if the weather is bad! I gave him his present Friday as I won't be seeing him today - unless rain stops play!
I have decided today will be a sewing day. I have two pairs of trousers to shorten and also the voiles to sew for the landing, so the machine will get an airing today. It doesn't get out much these days.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for all in need. Thinking of you all and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning Everyone
Fairly Sunny here but a little wind with it. Have not posted a lot for a while. My moms house sale finally completed towards the end of March. So I am slowly getting use to having more time.
I have been starting the tlc on our house and garden, which has been neglected for 21/2 years.
My DD came up yesterday, she went to visit my mom in nursing home first before coming on to stay the night with us.
It is my birthday today. We are going out for a meal at lunchtime, then will come back home and chill for a few hours before our lovely DD catches the train home.

Morning all.
My day yesterday was fine. I did an early visit to the SM for a few bits and DM's paper. In the afternoon her visitor arrived on time and I got out to meet my friends.
We met at Kelvingrove museum, went into the restaurant planning on coffee and cake though ended up with wine and cake.. The restaurant soon closed so we moved across the road to a lovely TV-less pub. Before that I sent them to look at the Salvador Dali painting called Christ of St John on the cross', an amazing image well worth seeing.
When I got back DM was just back in her room and the visitor was washing up the dishes. That's the best kind of visitor!
No idea what's happening today yet.
My thoughts to those having tough times. Happy Sunday to all.0 -
Morning! Yesterdays lunch out tuned into a bit of a belly groaner for food consumed, I didn't eat anythng again after that until about ten o clock and then it was only a few strawberries.
There were a few market stalls in the town we went to fo dinner, and I bought a couple of plants from one of them, Sweet cicely, and a shade loving perennial, so they will be going out when I can find them a place. I know where they're going to go, it's just getting it ready for them.
All of the seedlings are going hell for leaher now so they need to go out asap. Tomorrows job is finishing the bed, fill it up, plant stuff out before it takes over the world. I can't believe how much they've shot up since Thursday, the beans are almost 2ft high..
OL, well done on your sprucing up qualities. TA, that's a shame. Also the same for the sleeping...AOD, SO, hugs to you both. Hope your back is better mehefin. Gers, still going in the right direction then, huzzah! Happy Birthday to you ILC!! Cake, cake and more cake!
Wotcha Missings...
Seriously lazy Sunday!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
Bit of a funny morning here today, I woke up as usual at 3am and came downsatairs to find Steve sat down here playing on his computer. He couldn't sleep either so we had a cuppa and eventually we had some breakfast but I then went back to bed and had another hour's sleep. Steve is still awake though, still on his computer and planning to make a big roast dinner later as we did a freezer inventory yesterday and found a turkey left over from Christmas.
Happy Birthday to I love comps - have some cake :bdaycake:.
I am being a bit hobbity and will snaffle another breakfast in a minute as we won't be eating again until tonight as Phoebe is working. We have crumpets so will pinch a couple of them and another cup of tea.
This afternoon I will be starting a new knitting project. I am going to make a princess and a pirate for my niece and her foster brother. They live in Wales but will be coming here in a couple of weeks to celebrate my Mum's 70th birthday, so I had better get my needles clicking :rotfl:.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning
Feeling a bit more human today Did my usual of managing 3 hrs then a real work niggle woke me and wouldn't go away. I was convinced that a piece of work that been booked whilst my friend was staying had not been put in my diary at the time and as my diary is my only real memory I started a major awfulising session that I had double booked some work so at 1am I was back downstairs checking and there it was  Add in awful nerve pain and that I figured was that. Anyway did go back and decided to pop one of my meds that zonks me. I rarely take it as I am pretty anti drugs of any form but it did the job and I woke again at 6. Not ideal but boy I needed it. so feeling a bit better now and ready to face another work day.
So still loads to do as expected but in a better place. Sorry for the moan
Not sure what is in the bag I have released from the freezer except its brown so its either chilli or liver ....either will be good for me.
TA happy birthday for your baby hope you get to see him
ILC have a lovely day

Morning all
Looks like another nice day here got the bedding on the wm and will hang out for a while.
I have also got some plants to plant today, I have a passion flower and a clematis which I am going to train up and along each fence one out the front and one at the back, the front one I am hoping will grow up the car port to cover that a bit, I also have a tomato plant from a growing comp at work so that needs potting on.
We also have some ebay parcels to wrap and some more to list, and then get out for a long walk with the pup.
I went into sainsbugs yesterday and got my free tea and bics, as did dd so thank you for the heads up Nels
We also went to the village fete yesterday which was lovely, OH had a pint of beer wandering round but I was good, although I did buy an old glass Horlicks jar a big vintage one, and an old massive chemists blue bottle with lid £2 for the both, :T I love vintage kitchen bits and have quite a collection so these fit in really well.
Dinner tonight is bbq we both love this and its easy to prep so nice and easy.
Have good Sundays all xx0 -
Just popped back in to wish ILC a very happy birthday - plenty of cake I hope! :bdaycake:
DM shuffled up the hall and climbed into my bed! She wanted to snuggle...I'm not a snuggling type but did it anyway as she obviously needed to. She's now had a shower on her own with me just putting things in place. I sat in the hall as she showered - it was impressive to watch her managing and being determind to do it!
Off out to the shops - she wants fish pie!0 -
Family tea party today. Lots of sandwiches and cake plus wine - should be a nice afternoon. Important to me to spend time with the older relatives - they are all quite advanced in years so we are making the most of family gatherings. They have such great stories, although like a line from Only Fools and Horses lots of the stories start with "during the war ....."
Gers your mum is doing so well. The support you give her is amazing.0
