Dental advise private to Nhs to get work done

Hi all, i have been with a private dentist for many years, 2 years ago i have a post and crown fitted at a cost of £500, this fell out and was refitted and fell out and refitted and fell out, when i had the work done i felt all was not well but was reasurred all was good and these things happen as the root has cracked allowing the post to work free. Now i have a gap in the front of my mouth to the left of my front 2 teeth and have been told i need a bridge at a cost of £800 - £1200, i am looking at, if possible, getting in at a nhs dentist but am not sure if i can do this with the the work that currently needs doing, would i be accepted is it wise, any advise would be appreciated

Many thanks

We are in the opposite position where we have a NHS dental practice but no dentist available to carry out routine work even though we are registered at the practice. We are now looking for a private practice where we can at least get routine work such as check ups and fillings carried out. Strange though that our practice can offer private work but not able to fulfill their NHS contract. If I were younger and I had lost one of my front teeth I would opt for implants rather than a bridge as bridges can damage other teeth that they are attached to.

i have a private dentist - for years..not unhappy with treatment but unhappy with it always costing so much. Thought i would try an nhs dentist....i needed a one tooth bridge..was told by the nhs dentist they could only offer a denture or she could refer me to their private practice counterpart for an implant for 1800. i went back to my private dentist and had the bridge done.

just to add that the bridge is attached on just one side to a healthy tooth with no filing down or anything..if its a front tooth you can have it attached to a `virgin tooth next to it on just one side....as in no fillings in that tooth etc.
