You can't beat a good cup of tea, so we've been discussing which is better ... tea bags or tea leaves? Have you found one to be more money-saving than the other?

    Both depending on circumstances.
Leaf is much more moneysaving as it is thought to store longer if kept properly, plus you tend to use less of it for the same "ahhh" brew. It then goes onto the garden for further benefits, whereas the teabag (whilst near idiot-proof) does not compost at all well.

    Both depending on the tea!

I accidentally killed a mint plant ages ago so I removed the dried leaves & kept them to make tea!

I also tend to buy loose leaf chai as the tea bags aren’t that nice & same with earl grey & green as I find bagged green tea disgusting.

Some teas are only available in bags though. My fave bagged tea is Celestial Seasonings ‘Bengal Spice’ - it smells like hobnobs!

I was also given M&S vanilla & rooibos tea which is lovely (and I never liked other bagged rooibos teas as they were always bitter)

I stopped using tea bags when I realised that they are made of plastic, we always used a teapot anyway so no real change. It does take a bit more effort but the tea tastes so much better. I was given a cup of tea made with a teabag the other day and it tasted stewed
  • Where is the option for both?!

I bought a lovely caddy of tea leaves from Fortnum & Mason called Chai which I'd never come across before. It is quite nice, wouldn't buy again but will reuse the caddy as it's so pretty!

I also use Waitrose teabags for my two favourite blends of tea which I now like, I do change from time to time to new preferences, I used to like Earl Grey.

    So both for me :)
  • I believe in tea leaves, own several teapots and some loose tea. But I keep lapsing back into teabag use from sheer laziness. I was told by someone who worked for Min of ag and fish (back in the day) that the glue used on tea bags is carcinogenic so I can’t think why I keep using them!
When I order tea when I’m out I’m most put out if it doesn’t come in a pot, but even when it does it’s still normally one teabag.
And it has to be skimmed milk.
    And a hobnob.
