Claim Tax difference for travel on relocation?

My Financee has has her offices relocated :mad: . She gets 23pence per mile for the difference between the old office and the new office.

Business travel is paid at 43 or 53 pence per mile, depending on the size of your car.

Can she claim the tax on the difference from 23 pence to 40 pence for the relocation miles from HMRC? I know that you generally can't claim home to work expenses, but the relocation was forced and not out of choice.

I also understand the 23 pence per mile is taxed but I'm not sure how to check.

Help much appreciated.

No, quite the opposite... the HMRC will tax her on the 23p as a benefit in kind because this is not business mileage.

Agreed, although this extra mileage is because the company have moved offices. The 23 pence hardly covers the fuel and wear and tear, which is why business mileage is paid at 43/53 pence per mile.
