O/S Daily Wednesday 22nd May 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Bright sunshine to start the day here again.

DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and ok.

Dinner last night was roast chicken pieces, mash, green beans, peas, LO cauli/broc cheese, yorkshires and gravy. Tonight I'm not sure but may be something with rice or pasta.

Yesterday work was quiet, but it was a glorious warm sunny day, last full day for me, then on days' off but now working Saturday also as someone needed cover and as we had no plans I'm helping her out. We have Monday off also, so still getting 2 days off effectively.

Keep safe and well x

Bright and sunny again but cooler I think. Washing on the line, I could get used to this!

Went to Costco after work, took ages to get there with the heavy traffic. Anyway, swimming cossie changed and this one is OK. Also bought another as they were a good price.

Meeting a friend after work and we'll go to Yoga - another night I wont get home until about 8. I must pack a bag later as I'm going north on Thursday after work for the long weekend. The housework will have to wait!

Hope you all have a happy Wednesday, take care. XX

Good morning all and thank you for starting today's thread nmlc.

More unpacking today but I have a meeting midday regarding freelance work and I'll probably leave the sorting until later in the day.

I'm sleeping so much better here so far, must be the quiet.

Hope everyone has a good day

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another day of wall to wall sunshine forecast. I love this weather.

Nice lunch out with my buddy yesterday and the Broccoli Cheese Bake was back on the menu as promised, so the staff were spared the wrath of TA Speky! Had a wander round afterwards and succumbed to a lovely t.shirt £7 in a sale and a shirt from Ne*t not in a sale! And sorry REDRUBY I saw your post about voile blinds too late as I also bought some voile panels .

Today is bus trip day. It was going to be Skipton but we hear there are road works on the way causing horrendous tail backs so it's Ilkley again instead. Maybe they will still have some of those bottle lamps left, says she hopefully! It's DS's birthday at the weekend so I also want to look out for something nice for him. And of course lunch will be involved.

DUMPLING there's nothing to lose expressing your disappointment with the bosses of the bus company. Yesterday I popped in the bus office in town for a new timetable and there was a chap in there giving the assistant real grief over a service that had been stopped. He made it sound like she personally was responsible. The poor woman was trying to tell him to take it up with the management of Metro but he was so angry he wasn't listening to her. Rude man!

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the sad, worried, poorly or lonely and take care all xx

    Morning folks.

Happy new house AOD, sounds as if all the hassle was worth it.

TA - a very productive day!

Dumpling - you won't be a nuisance to the nurses or medics, you are exactly the reason why they are there! It's their job to help you.

Yesterday my trip into town was successful, I returned one jumper and bought two more. One of the floor assistants in JL was extremely helpful, she went out of her way to find something suitable for DM and came after me with it. DM was pleased with them both.

In the afternoon the domiciliary dentist was brilliant, dental plate in and sorted. DM was transformed into a brilliantly happy person and promptly asked for food. I suspect that it's been user error all along, however it seems all OK again.

I've been downloading my pay slips / P60s from the university site as I probably won't have access after 14 June. Then I wanted to put some music onto my mobile only to find that i had to reload everything into iTunes - a definite pain in the neck. Anyway, I've done the music I wanted on the phone and will leave the rest until another time. My aim is to get out walking more so listening to stuff will help.

Enough waffling - my thoughts are with those struggling along. Happy Wednesday to all.

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.

Thanks Redruby, that is his name. Beano has had his morning walk and is now asleep, all he seems to do is sleep but according to DD1 her has two rescue dogs slept for hours for the first month. It's their way of recovering from the stress of being in kennels.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Good morning everyone,

    Happy hump day.

Another late night last night in the office. The bright evenings are deceiving me and I often lose track of time. I anticipated it was going to be a late one so I cancelled my boxing class in the evening. Finally got home, caught up on GoT and swiftly went to bed.

Went to the gym this morning in anticipation that I might again be working late tonight. Although I'd rather not. I want to get packed and prepared for Berlin on Friday - Saturday. Need to make sure I've got the right attire so I might have to dip to the trafford centre and pick up some items. I hope not though.

Today will be NSD #11, woohoo!

RR - Your menu's always sound delish. Well done on the weight loss too!
AoD - I seemed to have missed your move. Congratulations! I hope it's not as painful as it's often can be.
Gers - I would recommend podcasts as well as music. Or even audio books.

    Morning everyone

I don't have much to do this morning. I need a couple of things from the supermarket so will pop out shortly. Later I think I will go and sit in the park for a while in the sun and people watch :). It will do me good to sit in the warm sun for a while.

RR well done on the weight loss.

Gers I'm pleased that the dentist was able to help your mum, it sounds like she is coming on leaps and bounds :).

TA I'm glad you managed to get your broccoli cheese bake. Enjoy your day in Ilkley.

AOD It's good that the new house is working out so well, and that you are managing to sleep a lot better.

    OL pottering is good :).

Have a good day everyone x

Morning all! It feels so much better waking up when it's sunny, next thing you know I'll be complaining it's too hot...Was late meeting friends for coffee last night, the clock had stopped and I kept looking at it thinking, well, this hasn't moved much in the last couple of minutes. Turned out it hadn't moved much in the last 35 minutes I'd been reading...Doh! Trying to fix it this morning, the second hand is sticking.
Have made up a mix of turps, meths and linseed oil to try and bring a small box back to life, it has some heat marks on it, and I want rid of it, so prettying it up to sell. I've never done this before but thanks to the resotrations programs I have watched, I'm going to give it a go...
Started slowly digging up the uneven ground around the bed at the top to a]fill it a bit more and b]level the ground ready for chippings of some kind, it's slow going because I have to pull every bit of marestail root out otherwise I'm just going to infest my lovely bed.
I have also worked out a simple design for some table legs for the shed door I appropriated a few months ago for an outside table. Need to get the mitre saw out though..
Should be tidying the house though because imminent family visit this weekend..Maybe tomorrow :)

Well done RR, I'll be seeing if I have tonight. Dumpling, what she said ^, if you need them, you need them, so go get them! TA, hope you find a bottle :) AO|D, that's brilliant, you are no longer a member of the rubbish sleep club! Gers, great news! snoozer, any women refuges or homeless shelters? They'd probably take them. Speky, NSD 11! Well done!! Holly, hope it's sunny where you are today :) edit - it is! yayyy!!!
    Wham-Bam Wednesday!

Morning all, brightening up after a cloudy start.I have the back door open and can hear the blackbirds singing. There seems to be nest building going on again in the dividing trellis, that might delay it coming down even longer.Yesterday I saw a magpie come sweeping down towards the nest area and the female was calling her alarm signal so I went out and clapped my hands and the magpie flew off. They must be on the look out for other nesting birds because its quite secluded where it is.
Had a lovely afternoon with my niece and baby,we walked up to the park and had a coffee. He has settled down & doesn't cry nearly as much as he did.
I have my hairdresser coming at 1 today. Not had it cut for about 5 months as I wanted to get it longer and grow the layers out,and he will cut off what he wants ,not what I ask :D,generally the case with hairdressers I find .DGc later :)

I have an income tax check list from the accountants for DH , and get the VAT ready to take.I used to do it all myself at one time but it's all computerised now and my brain can't cope with it any more ;)
Beano looks lovely HH,he deserves a good rest after being in rescue, bless him
AOD - Happy New House :)
Hope everyone is doing ok xx
