serious Help needed with my b/f's presents

These things are all out:

aftershave
car stuff
clothing
jewellery
He has no hobbies apart from computers (which i know nothing about so that is out)
books
underwear/socks
toiletries
activity day

Ive already got a couple dvd's, cd'sand ps2 games but i know he's getting some more from other people as well so it will be a really boring christmas if he gets lots of the same thing!

I also have the problem of it being his birthday on boxing day so ive got double the amount of gifts to buy.

If there's a magic answer to the "what to buy for the boyfriend" question, I'd love to hear it too...

Mine has a birthday at the start of January, so I have the same problem as you, what with having to buy twice as many presents and having very few ideas as to what to get.

So far, most of my ideas are to do with his hobbies, which obviously doesn't help you as yours doesn't share them. But something else I was also thinking of doing, was making him a stocking? It's an utterly childish idea (ha, I don't think his parents have even got him since he was tiny), but I thought it might be a fun little extra that won't cost much to put together.

  • My OH is pain in you know what also though does have hobbies so not to bad.

What about a day out at a race track I know you said no car stuff though is fun and maybe if you got them there they may lie it only if they can drive,or a karting voucher(this proved quite popular in my house and not to expensive)

Computing subscription to magazine may sound boring to some though may like that.

New mobile, games consule not sure if you want to spend that much though:confused::confused:

3plus1 a stocking is a lovely idea and shows you put a lot of thought into ti:D

Are you friendly with any of his friends? Maybe you could ask them for 'techy tips' about his PC with a view to getting him an upgrade?

Or you could get him gift vouchers for a computer store and let him pick out the parts himself?

Why don't you ASK him what he wants?

In my family we all quiz each other as to what everyone wants. Everyone compiles a list and then we all discuss amongst us (obviously behind each other's backs) what we will each get off the list. Even though you *know* what you have asked for, it's still a surprise wondering what you'll get off the list. Plus, sometimes it sparks inspiration to get something that the person hadn't even thought of but is perhaps linked to something they like.

It's a bit like reverting to your childhood and writing a wish list for Santa. You never expected Santa to get everything, but you knew you'd get at least a few of the items you had asked for.

Too many people rely on mind-reading, and then wonder why their partners or family aren't happy with what they've been given.

He clearly does have hobbies, as you've mentioned PS2 games, DVD's and CD's. Try looking at games he likes, sporty, platform or war, etc. Same with the music, perhaps you can look at his favourite bands/artists and instead of CD's, get him a T-shirt or other such memorabilia.

Could you go down the retro route and get him something he had as a child. I've bought a few retro items off ebay over the past few Christmases and they've gone down a storm.

You could pimp his computer - I bought some stuff from bigpockets.co.uk after someone here posted about the site. They have USB toys, and I got a mouse that clips onto your finger. I loved the USB Christmas tree too!

Other than that, maybe get a stocking and fill it with small toys and food things. If you wrap everything separately inside the stocking it'll feel like loads of gifts.
