Brexit is bad for housing, that's why some want it

Options
Now I get it why so many want a destructive Brexit, it is purely out of envy and spite. I am just recovering from a reunion of old friends from my old town last night. Subject soon got onto Brexit and thankfully I can pat myself on the back for having the good taste to choose friends who voted Remain, though several were die hard angry Brexiteers.

And most of them were not exactly achievers in life, none of them took risks, sacrificed or from what I can see worked hard. It is quite clear to me that most of them just want everything thrown in the air in a mess so hopefully they can do better next time once everyone has lost everything.
Many of us have invested in the future, we have mortgages on property valued at present prices, we have businesses and have put our trust in governments in the hope they won't just jump of a cliff, we trust them to keep the status quo.

Show me a Brexiteer and I will show you a person that has gone through life angry that people have done better than them who now want a scorched earth policy in the hope things just balance out again and those that achieved lose everything.

I went home with a few telephone numbers last night after some great catch up's, some just were taken straight off my phone, guess who.

It strikes me immediately that if anyone "has gone through life angry" it is those who absolutely and resolutely refuse to accept that somebody else could possibly dare to have a different opinion to them even when they are in the minority, and then go on to deride those people for their stance by calling them envious and spiteful without any evidence whatsoever for that assertion which is so typically nasty and which a certain minority of remainers persist on using.

Still, what would a racist thicko crinkly gammon know even if, against all supposed probability, I fit not one single one of those stereotypes.

I lot of wealth and property(rental housing) is tied up in the Remain vote, I would just say to many Brexiteers be very careful what you wish for, many will probably hide their wealth anyway and put you out of a home in the process, many will leave to better countries in my opinion and take all their wealth with them.

    Tell me about better countries.

Then tell me why you are still in the UK if it is so poor here and their are better places elsewhere, in your opinion of course.

Why vote to remain part of a union in a substandard country?

Why not just leave now and have done with it?

So loads of BTL houses go on the market at the same time. Prices crash.
It would then allow housing associations to buy these up on the cheap.
Then renter can obtain social housing at a cheaper rent.
I reckon most would welcome that.

And what you're proposing is these wealthy people having a fire sale & selling their assets at a potential loss, which isnt going to happen.

Are you one of these London slum landlords who rents out to Romanians 3 or 4 to a room by any chance?

I voted Leave after seeing what it’s like on the other side of the fence when I was made redundant from a major UK company after 22 years.

I wonder what side you would have placed me on had I been at your gathering. I’ve worked hard all my life. I’ve made sacrifices. I don’t know your age but I’d guess you are my generation. The ones who were lucky enough to be able to choose to work full time. Able to choose to take on a mortgage and the risks involved. Able to afford to put a little aside each month into private pensions. But I know I didn’t choose to pull up the drawbridge behind me.

I’ve got firsthand experience of zero hour contracts, working for agencies and I thank God I managed to get myself mortgage free.

I voted Leave for the youngsters I see around me as I work one crap job after another who stand no chance of getting on the housing ladder or getting that secure thirty hour a week contract career job they would love to have or being able to afford to go to university to better their chances.

Something has gone very wrong and it’s happening everywhere. Even New Zealand has people working who live in cars and rely on food banks. I have lived in NZ and Australia and it wasn’t always like this.

I have seen nothing from the EU acknowledging people’s plight let alone trying to solve it and our three main political parties have let it happen.

Sadly you sound very smug in your post. A little empathy for others situation wouldn’t go amiss.

I would consider the Isle of Man, we'd be much better off financially due to reduced taxes, great for walking, an opportunity to chance to play international sports (albeit at a reduced standard, but I still think that it would be an interesting experience). Overall I was neutral (there are certain disadvantages), but my wife would have missed seeing her mother every week, so she wasn't keen, although her mother has now passed away. On balance I would prefer to stay here, but it is an option if things changed here.

It's never going to happen unless social housing returns, and that is close to impossible. I will ignore the racist comments, 90% plus of the eastern Europeans are too polite, cultured and hard working to live like you suggest, if I had my way I would double their numbers in the UK. What I do turn away though is 18 year old single mothers two plus kids on welfare along with those on welfare full stop

If I do leave the UK i will still keep most of my BTL

    What racist comments?
Are you suggesting that slum landlords who treat eastern europeans like this are a certain race? If so then i think its you being racist.

Many do live like that, ive seen many a documentry showing this. Ive also seen many a documentry highlighting companies like sports direct who will only employ eastern europeans as they are less aware of employment rights so can get away treating staff like dirt. This is why big business is in favour of FoM as it keeps wages down due to increased supply of workers willing to work for the bottom rate.

And the reason they do live like that, its the only way then can live in London on NMW in doing the low paid service jobs.

It all comes back to the issue of too much investment in London at the expense of the rest of the country.

And social housing still exists. Its just now ran by housing assocs instead of local authorities,
