You are right, doom sells, while saying everything is more or less fine and the world is progressing very rapidly and lifting hundreds of millions out of poverty. Well good news doesn't sell

I'm not sure I understand your argument. The experience of those of us who have PV is that we do exactly that, avoid the simultaneous use of power heavy equipment and remain as much as possible within self-generation limits. For example I don't think I've ever had WM and dishwasher on at the same time, and this time of year the WM can go on a lot earlier, after I've checked the generation monitor..
Having PV has cut my peak loads dramatically, and some of that is through behavioural changes.0 -
