Mortgage advice please

After a messy divorce that is all sorted now I'm looking to get a mortgage. I have some poor credit history - that is improving all the time - as in my credit score. I watch my credit score and my accounts are all clear and I have money for a deposit.
Can anyone recommend a good Mortgage Broker or Financial Advisor where I can get some help and assistance. I was trying through L&C Mortgages but they are really slow. I want to start making some progress on this and need to work with someone who can work my case. I've seen some properties in my local area but want to know I can get a mortgage sorted before making any sort of offers and know I can afford what I think I can afford!
Please help!

L+C are a quantity than quality broker, you get what you pay for.
You will likely need an adverse broker which is not going to be free generally
What adverse credit history do you have? DMP? CCJ ? loans/debts? Salary e.t.c?"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
