O/S Daily Thursday 16th May 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Bright sunshine start to the day again but forecast possible rain this afternoon then the coming days look yuk, rain every day. Have a wash load ready to peg out shortly.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work and DS2 settled and ok. I'm showered, dressed and just finished my porridge.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. Not sure about tonight but will sort something today.
Yesterday work was quiet except a few times when all the customers came in together!
On to today -
I have the usual "to do" list - so will be cracking on with that, I'll go to town to visit the bank and building society. Then housework etc to be done. Now on days' off but working Saturday.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Not sunny this morning but dry and bright with a lovely breeze for drying the washing.
Visited the allotment last night, everything was as dry as a bone. Gave it a good watering so hoping everything is ok.
Happy 'Having Mum Home' day Gers.
Have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The sun is shining and it still feels warm but they say it will be a couple of degrees down on yesterday.
Never got to Ilkley after all yesterday, DD rang to see if it was ok to swap my shopping day from today. I am not destined to get another of these bottle lamps I don't think!
The 2 youngest DGDs are still asleep - middle DGD got back safely from her Whitby trip but I don't think much sleeping had been going on as she was in bed by 7.30 tired out! It's unlike her to want to go to bed early!
Decorator also due so it will be a manic start to my day but I did ask if he could come a little bit later as I had the girls to get organised for school. Needless to say the usual fix has been requested for tea so the Bolognese will go on shortly. DS is calling for his lunch before late shift at work so I will make an individual dish up for him too.
My throat feels sore and I keep coughing - I wonder if it's the paint getting to me? It does have a very strong smell to it.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Hope GERS' DM gets back home as planned. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need
Beano has settled in nicely, he's mastered the gangplank, isn't keen on the cows in the field and would rather sleep on someone's knee than in his bed.
Have a good day everyone
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning everyone
I'm going to try and do a bit of cooking for the freezer today. I've just about eaten all of the HM ready meals I had in there. While the oven is on I will do a bit of baking as well. I do enjoy being in the kitchen cooking, so hopefully it will feel a bit like getting back to normality.
I need to decide exactly what I'm going to make in a minute and then go and get anything that I don't already have in.
Other than cooking/baking I need to vacuum through, but the house looks ok apart from that.
I registered my interest in a couple of voluntary jobs online yesterday evening, so hopefully will hear back about them soon. I really do feel the need to be part of society again.
Gers I hope all goes smoothly with mum coming home today, and there isn't too much waiting around.
taff take it easy.
Hester it sounds like Beano has quickly settled in as a member of the family.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning

Well Fascinator No 2 the blue one this time went to London for the day She was wearing it all day lol and we met a couple more similar nutty peeps on the train but their reason for wearing one was to attend a buck palace garden party ....a little bit better excuse than my friends fascinator on tour explanation
We did try for an invite but sadly....:o
Anyway we did the hop on hop off bus tour which was great with the sun streaming down and lunch overlooking the Tower of London. Only downside was the annoying black cab protest in the centre of London which did mean we missed a couple of sights.
Today it's off to Blackpool... lots of cheap souvenir shopping including rock for every person she knows and probably some tipping point on the pier
Staying over to go to funny girls tonight .....I know I know tat central
Hopefully fascinator will not feel too out of place
So hope everyone has a great day ...last day of the sun folks apparently so make the most0 -
Morning everyone.
Thanks for the good wishes - today is indeed home coming day! There was a time, a few weeks ago, when this seemed unlikely, even improbable. Balloons are blown up, helium one dancing on its tether and banner ready to go up! DM won't come until after 12 noon so it's a waiting game now. Her cleaner is coming this morning so the place will be sparkling.
Yesterday I zoomed around for most of the day doing 'things' before visiting. For the first time I saw DM walking with the zimmer and was very impressed.
I'll catch up with the thread after I'm showered and dressed. My thoughts are with those struggling.
Happy Thursday to all.0 -
NELSKI I am thinking you could write a sequel to "Round Ireland with a Fridge" - "Round Britain with a Fascinator" could be a best seller."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Afternoon all. Not much to report. Pain in leg has stopped play, my trusty walking stick has returned to help out and painkillers are being taken regularly...
Today I am pottering, which basically means moving things from one piece of the house to another.
Went shopping with a friend yesterday who wanted some shoes, I en ded up buying some very heavily reduced trousers and a dress from Monsoon. She couldn't belive how cheap it was in there, items were there for less than a tenner...Also rejoined WW, and was heartened to find I hadn't put on quite everything, I lost...We will see what happens next week. Met friends for coffee, received a puzzle and four tomato plants..Now to find somewhere to put the latter. Have geraniums to pot out, forst should have passed now so they should be safe and a visit is upcoming next weekend by father and sister so will have to do a spring clean and tidy..The old mattress upstairs can go, which will free up some room. There's a blow up mattress for anyone who needs it instead..
Hope everyone is good...

Afternoon all !
I know, I know, I'm late again..... I'll go and sit on the naughty step in a mo :rotfl:.
We have been over the van all day, sprucing up the inside, cleaning the outside and doing the checks of lights, brakes etc. All is now shipshape and bristol fashion or at least 'vanshape and sparkling
. We took a picnic and a large flask of coffee, just in case we needed sustenance..... and we scoffed the lot
. That's what hard physical work does for us. ( that's my story and I'm sticking to it
)
Now it's feet up till teatime and I have a pasta bake ready to go. ( good bit of forward thinking on my part
) I think I'll be early to bed too as I felt I was on the night shift last night
. I was wide awake till 5am, then dropped off and only got about 3hrs sleep
taff what will it take to get you to slow down ? Maybe I'll have to hide your walking stick
. I wouldn't rule out a frost yet though, as the saying goes " never cast a clout till May be out ".
Gers hope DM is home and settling back in.
Nelski loving the fascinator tales.
TA could you have the start of hay fever ? I think I heard that the grass pollen season has started.
HollyH I hope you get something in the voluntary sector.
Hugs to all the poorly ones and anyone struggling.
Take care all
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0
