O/Style Daily Wednesday 15th May 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Sunshine and blue sky to start the day here.
Dinner last night was seasoned chicken portions, vegetable rice and pasta in sauce with mushrooms. Tonight will be fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.
Work yesterday was generally fairly quiet but busy at times. Last day of my working week today but working Saturday also. Had several unhappy customers also, so had the usual verbal abuse.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoyed my first cuppa and porridge.
I have my usual "to do" list ready for tomorrow.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC for starting. Oh I love these beautiful sunny starts to the day.
Up and at 'em early again as the decorator is coming at 7.00 again. He likes to come early so he can knock off early when the weather is good. I don't mind as it suits me as well.
I am thinking whilst I have chance I might get the bus to Ilkley for the elusive lamp bottles. Fingers crossed they have some left! Whilst there I might nip into their M & S food for some bits.
Two of the DGDs are here for late tea and sleepover tonight. It's dance class night. That's assuming middle DGD is back in time to go when she returns from the few days in Whitby. School have been posting photos of the kids on Twitter and they all looked to be having fun. (Hope the same can be said for the teachers!!)
I hope today goes well for AOD's move. GERS your DM sounds to be doing so much better now. How did Lee go on yesterday DUMPLING? Fingers crossed.
Better get a move on. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all who need them. TAFF don't drive yourself too hard. Take it easy. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
Beautiful day again, towels are on the line - they get a bit crispy in the sunshine, it's like getting dried with shredded wheat!
I woke up early so have done the ironing including my summer dresses, that'll make it rain! Packed lunch made so all ready for the day ahead.
Hope Lee got on well yesterday dumpling.
Your fish and chip run sounds just the job Gers.
Thinking of those struggling. Enjoy the sunshine if you can. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all
Lovely bright day here again, yesterday afternoon got very warm indeed it was lovely.
Off to work today and Noisy chap is back today along with five really quiet ladies so a right mixture today !!
I am going to do the cod prawn and chorizio bake for dinner tonight with some jersey royals its a nice easy dinner and its a one baking tray and one pan job which is always good.
Rubbish bins out today and tonight I must do a wash and the dw will need emptying.
Gers Oats on there own do not fill me either, but with some frozen fruit, yogurt and honey they seem to last me till lunch time.
AOD hope the move goes well xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning
Wow this weather is amazing we are so lucky
Having a lovely week with my American visitor... sun tans are the order of the week :j Monday we did Liverpool and my friend cleared out John Lewis including her special request before she came which was to buy a fascinator ....she bought two :rotfl: apparently they dont sell them where she is so she got two and is wearing them for all our trips including afternoon tea yesterday with with mum and today its coming to London with us today.....Fascinator on tour :rotfl:
Today its the hop on hop off bus round London so we can cram it all in a day
Food wise special requests have been fish and chips and bangers and mash so its all in hand but today I am just going with the flow. Afternoon tea was lovely with mum yesterday she always is better with guests so maybe I should always take visitors. I think she was a bit surprised that she was quite happy to sit outside having tea in garden with a fascinator on
our waiter seemed to think it was perfectly normal
So south bound for us ....will report on fascinator on tour later in the week

Morning everyone,
I have returned from sunny Spain. A bit too sunny as I've actually burnt my back but aside from that, well rested and has a fab time with the family. I arrived late last night and quickly visited the SM to get groceries for the remainder of the week and decided to continue in the holiday spirit and loaded up on carbs. Can't wait!
Although I spent most of the time relaxing by a pool with a beer and book close by, I did keep an eye on work emails and I see I have plenty to be getting on with today, so a short but sweet post this morning from me.
I hope everyone is doing ok and if i get the chance, I'll read back on what everyone's been up to.0 -
Morning all.
Nelski - great report! It made me laugh.
TA - good luck in finding more lamps.
Dumpling - how did Lee get on?
Snoozer - thanks for the other ingredients for oats.
Another lovely day here. I’ve got a list of things to get done before tomorrow as I’ll have to stay in to wait for DM to arrive. :j
I want to get some ‘welcome home’ balloons, DM likes balloons! And I need to fill the very empty fridge.
Yesterday I did a small wash and changed bed linen which now needs washed.
Reluctantly I’ve decided I don’t like Hotel Choc olate chocolates. :eek:Last night I opened a box, with great anticipation, and was really disappointed, I can’t eat anymore (had two to give them a chance). Such rubbish!
Anyway, it’s a day for action. My thoughts are with all those struggling and AOD for her house move.
Happy Wednesday to all.0 -
Morning everyone
As it is such a lovely morning I've already got one load of washing on the line and have got another load in the washing machine to go out shortly. I thought I would make the most of this good weather.
I need to go to the bank this morning and pay in a cheque, I think it is the first one I have had for two or three years now.
On the way back I'll have a walk through the park on the way home as it is so nice and sunny.
TA enjoy your trip to Ilkley.
Nelski you will have to write a blog about 'the travels of a fascinator'. Enjoy your time in London.
Specky sounds like the holiday was just what you needed.
Gers it is good to hear how well your mum is doing now. It was a lovely kind act of you to buy fish and chips for the other patient.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning all. Leg has settled to a medium pain and have phoned to be told it's normal unless it goes on for a long time. I've unearthed my stick for walking use.
My hair is also very short, not really what I wanted but hen it grows it will be ...
Had an interesting road rage incident yesterday where someone tried to run me off the road, slam on brakes, park across junctions I was signalling to turn down, follow me home etc, and only desisted when I started getting too close to the police station [where I decided to drive on purpose]..This happened to my sister when she came up too. I think the drivers round here have a much inflated sense of their own importance. To be honest, the original incident was equal parts fault [ I had to merge or hit something concrete, he kept speeding up so his front end was level with my back end, so I sped up etc in the end I had to merge so he had to brake..next time I'll just brake and let the boy racer go first...] but where I would have shrugged it off, he decided to use his van like a weapon...he was the perfect statistic age, too, male, mid thirties..
Today, I will be driving like Miss Daisy...
Gers, what abou filling the fridge with balloonns? [innocent looking smiley thingy] Good to hear she's coming home in a non football way. Glad youre having a good time Nelski, makes up for te crap time last week....csarina, cuttings from overwintered geraniums? I can't keep mine alive, I'm doing something wrong because my father used to manage to keep all of his alive. Holly, hope you're enjoying the sunshine and people watching. AOD, hope the move is going well. TA, get on the bus! Speky, not nice, get some aloe vera on there...at least you had fun getting it
SO, hope you're coping...have some hugs. Hope mares are intact Lainey/mehefin....dumpling, really good news about steves eye.
Wotcha Missings...

Good morning chums and a gorgeous day here in the Garden of England. Today I am in spring cleaning mode, so I shall be scrubbing and scouring everything in sight .
I have my oldest friend coming tomorrow for the day from Dartford so I also want to make a quiche for our lunch.I may also rustle up a sponge cake if I have time as the big oven will be on.
My youngest DGS Mikey has his GCSE english lit exam this morning so I have my fingers crossed for him Their school do an English Lit and the three science GCSEs this year and the rest next year and by splitting them up it means the children have less pressure as they normally sit 10-11 exams over the two years. Our Henry has his finals for his 'A' levels over the next ten days and his last tow are on the third of June which is his 18th birthday. His younger brother Mikey is 15 on the 1st June so I have two birthdays in the same week:)
My DGD Holly and her fiancee have found a house they like and have put in an offer for it They get married next May but the way prices are going the sooner they get on the ladder the better.
My eldest DGS Danny (Holly's brother) and his lovely wife have now flown back to the U.S. and I won't see them now until they come over next year for his sisters wedding.
But now I must get a wriggle on as I have such a lot to do today I am definitely feeling like Alice in Wonderlands white rabbit and will meet myself coming back I think
Hope you all have a great day and nels I hope you enjoy your trip to the 'Smoke' you have a beautiful day for it .
Gers your Mum is obviously flourishing on her fish and chips
beats all the meds and tastes nicer
<hugs> to those who are feeling poorly or just sad hope you are all feeling better soon
Take care chums ,must fly
