I'm not sure if this is the right place so apologies if it's wrong.
My mum needs to get photographic ID and as cheaply as possible. She doesn't have a passport and her driving licence expired about 5 years ago. She needs it to show her ID for the purchase of a holiday home. Does anyone know what other photographic ID she could apply for?
Thanks

I can see why your solicitor might need this, but a sales manager? And from what you say it's not even a high-value purchase, merely putting an asset in joint names. Ask what alternative forms they accept.0 -

This may be a legal requirement to prevent money laundering. What other photographic ID does the sales manager/ conveyancer say is acceptable, if any?
It is becoming increasingly necessary to have proper photo ID for for many financial and legal situations. It may be a false economy for your mother not to renew her drivers license or passport.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

I think you may be right with regards to money laundering. Having worked in a solicitors office I know too well about the money laundering regulations and needing ID for this, that and the other.
He hasn't said what ID is acceptable yet, just that to save my mum running around trying to get the photo ID we can just put the van in my name and then I can just give permission for my mum to be added once she's got the ID.
To be honest the only time I ever knew my mum to go abroad was when she was with my dad, before I was born, over 40 years ago and at 70 years old she's never going to get behind the wheel again so would be an expense she could do without.
We're thinking of going for the bus pass as she'll be able to get use of that.Did owe £9,951.96
