Got suspended from work and most likely face dismissal. Whilst suspended, I been busy applying for new roles. I have a interview lined up, which I want to attend. I will be honest if asked regarding my exist. My question is would the business provide a reference while the investigation is on-going?

No-one is obliged to provide a reference (except some very limited roles) so no-one can answer that question.
But given you are likely to be dismissed, would you want a reference?
"Musafir is currently suspended whilst we investigate him for Gross Misconduct. We would not look to work with him in the future" doesn't sound that great really.0 -
I work in HR so my input is.....
Your current company may have a reference policy so its worth looking at that.
Many companies only provide basics ie person was employed from this date to this date. Some will confirm disciplinary action if asked, others won't (especially if a conclusion hasn't been reached)
A company is likely to provide a reference at the moment, although what they put in it depends on the company.0 -
I have had the job for 18 months and performed considerably well before my silly mistake got me suspended. Am I allowed to give contact info of my previous employer or is my current employer preferred?0

With 18 months employment I would expect a prospective employer to want references from your current employer, or a very good explanation of why that is not available.0

You can put down whomever you want, but obviously if there's an 18 month gap in your history that will raise questions.
As for the current situation. Employers don't tend to sack people after 18 months, for silly mistakes. They do for serious ones though0 -
With less than 2 years employment you could have been dismissed without reason, so being suspended suggests either the employer wants to dot the i's and cross the t's or they may be deciding if you were worth keeping. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

It’s normally last two Employers or coverage of X years, unless new employer wants different.
I know recently I relied upon jobs of 5 and 3 years ago at interview whom I would have left (job being interviewed for most matched these past experience however dated) and the pretty average (not quite background screening) checking employer just took last two for contacting purposes. They would have done the most recent in my mind to check I wasn’t off sick whilst trying to get new job or I suppose fired without telling truth etc I got a real basic offer letter but that didn’t bother me...0 -
Leaving aside the reference question, you need to be practising what to say about this 'silly mistake'.Signature removed for peace of mind0

Thank you for the feedback.
I’m going to go ahead by resigning as the long hearing process is causing difficulty in accepting a new job.
Does anyone have any sample resignation letters which I could revise based on my circumstances?0
