Mortgage Underwriting

Has anyone heard of a Mortgage Advisor underwriting for a lender before?

I may have picked up our MA wrong but I’m pretty sure he said he was underwriting our application for our mortgage lender. Could this be correct? Or could it be that because he used to be an underwriter that he will underwrite first to see what questions he would come back with?

I do plan on asking him but wondered if anyone else had came across this before.

    It is probably just a phrase he uses. Part of our job is to go over everything to check it is going to fit with the actual underwriter and lender.
