O/S Daily Friday 10th May 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and DS1 now getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed - enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and ok.
Dull, dreich and dreary - not raining at the moment but looks like it won't be long before it is - again!
Dinner last night was pork loins, mash, cauli in cheese sauce, green beans (me), peas (menfolk) and gravy, HM rhubarb crumble and custard for those that wanted some. Tonight dinner will be something easy - possibly mushroom omelette and salad for me, breaded chicken portions, chips and beans for the menfolk.
Yesterday I was reasonably productive, got most of the jobs done I wanted, I'll go and do the food shopping first thing, then I need to go to the big orange shed shop for a couple of bits, then home to do the ironing. I have some veg not looking so great in the fridge so may well make that into soup, that will make lunch for me for tomorrow and into next week. I don't want to spend loads food shopping as I did a shop at the start of the week, so will be writing a detailed list to stick to once I finish on here.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Dry at the moment but light rain forecast later. They say from Sunday the rain will have moved on.
Just a quickie. The DGDs are to wake up shortly and get organised for school. Then the pleasure of the Friday Tidy. This might prove a bit of an ordeal as my right arm is quite painful where the nurse gave me an injection yesterday! Just had some painkillers to see if they help.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Thinking of you all. Where's NELSKI? Have I missed something, not seen her post for a while. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Its a nice bright day here for the moment I think we are due more rain later on today.
Off to work for me and Fridays are always a challenge there is already wine in the fridge !
My Friday tidier comes today so will just have the washing to do tonight.
Not sure about dinner tonight will go and look in the fridge after this but I kind of fancy a TA curry
we will see !
Someone is leaving at work today so we have made a huge vanilla sponge with lemon icing and caramel chunks on the top which we will share at the end of the day, which the clients will love.
Have good days all xx0 -
Good Morning chums I am up and packing and will be on the motorway by 9.00 on my way back to kent from Bath had a super holiday and saw so many fabulous things and really didn't overspend, yet didn't go without. The sun is shining so fingers crossed the M4,M25 and M2 will hopefully not be too busy.Lovely place I stayed in and extremely comfortable, really couldn't find any fault at all with the accommodation or the area Bath is a beautiful city and very easy on the eye.
Hope everyone has a good day and the sun shines down on us all
Cheers chums JackieO xx0 -
Morning folks.
Yesterday I managed to be fairly useful. My lone student turned up and so we could finish off his assessments. :T which I was doubtful about.
In the morning DM's cleaner and I did small jobs in her bedroom to sort out minor things. I had the fun job of deflating the 'mattress topper' and trying to fit it back in the tube, didn't quite do that part but at least it's off the bed.
Then we tackled the horrible free standing towel rack which collapses at every opportunity. I've loathed it for years. We gave up trying to fit it all together again in frustration, dismantled it completely and put it in a bag for recycling. I went online, bought a new one, it was delivered three hours later and I put it together in about ten minutes. Job done!
Today I'll be visiting DM at lunch time with her chosen food and then I'll detour into town for a couple of things.
I may have a glass of wine tonight. :j
My thoughts are with everyone having a difficult time and wish you all a happy Friday.0 -
Morning all! Sun is shining!! with a 59% chance of rain...oh well...
Rain and pain stopped play yesterday, so I sat and started a jigsaw. Have to shower this morning for hopsital blood takings, and probably see one of the nurses about the skin falling off. They did give me some stuff to put on, which I have, but they also gave me these foam pads to put over them and told me they were supposed to kept in place with underwear...Well. I can't wear my knickers under my arm and there's no way I'm going near a bra so that is a bit useless really...Sofa surfing for the rest of the day it is...after the hospital obviously...
Yes where is Nelski? Ok, so she probably went to Antigua then...Gers, good idea! TA, enjoy the tidy [eek!] Glad you had a nice time Jackie, where did you go, what did you see? Hey Holly!
Wotcha Missings [ capital M now...you are a proper noun...]
Fun packed friday!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Good morning, the sun is shining here!
We had a change of plan yesterday, DD rang to see if we would help her out - their car has been on the blink, and her partner had managed to get it into a garage yesterday, so we had Dgs and collected Dgd from school.
It didn't take as long as she thought it would, so she was back by 3.30.
We are her only babysitters really, her partner's Mum still works as she's younger than us.
We didn't mind though, she was very grateful, and we only live a 15 minute walk away, so we're handy.
We might shop today, Dh needs new T shirts, we'll see anyway.
Hope your painkillers work TA
Gers, your Mum's towel rail made me laugh, we have a similar shoe rack. The shoes fall off, and it leans to one side. If curses worked it would have crumbled away to powder years ago.
Glad you enjoyed Bath Jackie, lovely isn't it.
Hope everyone has a good day
Take care folks xx0 -
Morning all from Mehefinland.
The saga continues with poor Bruisemare as her abscess is still chucking out some vile smelling gunge. Its over a week now and she is still feeling it poor thing. Have spent a fortune on poultices and bandages but found a nice guy on the bay of E who sells them at a reasonable price and is pretty local to me. Still on pain relief and lies down a lot but that's a good thing. Looks like she may have one in the other hind too so its going to be a long haul. Scooby is getting so much exercise had to have Stevie2shoes over to sort her front shoes out. Just one thing after another.
Got a friend from Oz landing on us later today so need to sort a few things out. No doubt some vino collapso will be in evidence later which will be a nice change from the drudgery.
Mrs M's cousin's son (sounds like a scene in Hot Fuzz) has just been offered a job with IBM in OZ. He has Aspergers and IBM employ a lot of people with that condition as they are so focussed on anything they are given to do. Its a relief for his Mum as she was worried about him after he dropped out of uni with stress related problems.
Hugs and spoons to those in need

Hi everyone,it's a bit quiet on the daily today, hope everyone is alright . I've just got back from a morning in town,DS dropped me at the bus stop on our way back from dropping DGS at school. He stayed unexpectedly last night as his little brother was poorly and his mum wanted him checking out at hospital. He got dropped off in his dressing gown and slippers when they were on the way to hossy.School were also having a non uniform day and a bottle tombola so he went in his football strip with a bottle of beer in his bag

We weren't in when he arrived last night as we went out for a very MS meal in Manchester, our friends got 4 free invites to a lovely Indian restaurant, free prosecco too
Topsy, when you come up North it would be worth a visit to Rivington, there has been an awful lot of renovating work in the gardens in the last year, they got a grant.... though Lytham is nice too
I am making a meat pie for tea,I think everyone will like that.DGD is back off her hols so a full house tonight.I'm also making a loaf in the BM,hadn't done one for months,we've been buying it from a local bakery, but the amount we go through is making it a bit expensive. However I dug it out yesterday and used a breadmix which wasn't succesful.I think there may be a fault with it,so I'm having one more go and if this one is no good it'll find it's way to the tip!
Seems to be brightening up now after a damp start- & I'm off to clean the bathroom (again :rotfl:) Hope you all have a good day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Hello all, still busy packing bit by bit, major upside is that any attempt at three Friday Tidy is utterly pointless.
Am going to be a patchy poster for a bit.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Afternoon all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
We've had a tiring few days, we visited a friend who's had an accident as well as visiting the rescue centre and putting a blind up for DD1.
CHS woke me at 1am to tell me Freddy Starr had died, at 4am to tell me the state of charge of the batteries and again at 6am because wanted to go to Ikea for breakfast.
We shoppers Aldi where he had a meltdown trying to pack the bags we are home now and I'm refusing to move again until tomorrow.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0
