Been sent a TAX RESIDENCY SELF-CERTIFICATION FORM

Has anyone been sent one of these forms from their bank? I have not traded or been out of the EU and the letter is asking me to confirm by tax residency and am wondering if I need to fill this in.

Seems strange my bank is asking me to do a form for HMRC.

really? Why have I been flagged up? I updated my online bank information that already said I'm a tax resident of the UK, this all seems very strange.

If you have already done it then it seems odd they have sent a form....ask them?

There are threads regarding this going back years. The early Halifax ones looked like an attempt at fraud as on BLACK headed paper not the normal blue. Sometimes you can deal with this without actually replying to them, but by going onto your online banking & ticking the right boxes, you may have missed a minor bit.


Blame the Americans & FATCA.

Okay, HMRC have told me to ask for a letter of confirmation, not that I know what that is either! haha I feel so lost.

So you have now got HMRC involved about sending a letter back to your bank?

Think you missed a tick somewhere on the bank application?
