This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning all
Up early for me on a BH as I am working today (boo hiss ) !! we have to do two a year each and both of the May ones are mine this year, hopefully the day will go quickly.
OH in charge of domestics today so will do something for dinner there is plenty of choice so we wont starve.
WE went for our ride out yesterday and got some asparagus (it had been picked yesterday Morning) we had some last night and it was lovely very tasty and fresh tasting. Unfortunately we had to cut our walk short as OH sciatica started to play up so we went home, she still had about three miles so not too bad.
Hope you all have good days and enjoy the BH.

Morning all
Just on way home from night shift. Will go to bed for a few hours hopefully up around lunchtime. Then on days off so hope to do some catching up with gardening and housework.
DS2 has gone work abroad in France for the summer on a campsite. He seems to have settled in ok. I’m hoping to go and see him early June.
Read along every day.but struggle to post.
Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Enjoy the bank holiday. Take care0 -
Morning folks and thanks REDRUBY. Hi TOPSY.
A beautiful but nippy start with the sun shining but, sadly, showers are forecast later. Bah!
I have been in sloth mode this weekend, enjoying the peace and quiet after weeks and weeks of banging and drilling next door. I know a young couple can't be expected to just move in and live with an old chap's decor so was prepared for some noise - just not this level of noise! I wonder if today will be another quiet one! They are not living there through all the upheaval!
I thought I might shift myself this morning and get the bus down town to visit B & M. My SF Jelly stocks are now nil and I begrudge paying double the price in Sainsbob's.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely and, of course, our absent friends. Have a good breakaway OL and JACKIE. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
redruby - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy and chilly here, but dry underfoot at the moment, although rain is forecast for later.
DH and myself now enjoying first cuppas - I'll be going for a shower shortly.
Lunch yesterday was a rotisserie chicken, salad, pork pie, beetroot, coleslaw and pasta salad. Meals today are not yet sorted but we have several different options as did a small shop yesterday.
Time away was lovely and we were lucky with the weather - we needed coats at times only because the temperature dropped at the end of the week - but it's the same now we're home, we only had rain once, which was during the night. It's become very apparent how much mum has deteriorated over the past months, and how much my dad has to put up with from her, at times getting quite nasty etc. I've spoken to younger sister whilst away as he won't say anything. I suspect at some point it will get to a point where he can no longer manage her then there will have to be some decisions made.
Chilled day today - we're all back to work tomorrow.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, it's a bit grey here. Yesterday was ok tho, got a bit of washing nearly dry.
Didn't go out yesterday, well, DH went to the tip, lucky old him.
Just pottered really, sorting , tidying. I don't know, there's only 2 of us in this house, yet there always seems plenty to do. I finished a card I was making, did more ironing, just general stuff.
Today, I'll visit a friend this morning, and we might go out for a walk this afternoon, to Northumberlandia. We'll see what the weather is like.
Hope everyone is ok, I'll have to read back, don't think I posted yesterday. Silver-Oldie, hope you are managing your Mum's funeral arrangements, can anyone help you?
Take care folks xx0 -

Thanks for the thread Scarlet and hugs to those n need.
We were lucky yesterday the wind dropped so we were able to move without any problems.
I left CHS supervising the joint as he was knackered. I walked back for the car, three miles in total.
Lazy day today, we will visit the dog rescue and I need to make chocolate sponge for 30, ready for stroke club tomorrow.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all, I am doing the jumbo crossword, I mean preparing to box up more stuff ahem.
I have failed to do the washing this morning.
I have succeeded in drinking tea though, plus eating marmite toast.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all. Bright and chilly here. I have a load of washing in the machine to go out later. We have the heating on to warm the house up first thing. I am miffed that we still have to have the heating on in May.
I don't feel like going out in the cold with buses every 20 mins on a Bank Holiday so I will be pottering in the house. John may go out for a walk later.
SO thinking of you. HH enjoy making the choc sponge.
Have a good day folks.

Morning all
I hope everyone is having a good relaxing time.
I have a day of ironing in front of me, as I like to do it in short bursts interspersed with endless coffee breaks :rotfl:. I also need to make a start on getting the 'van stuff out of it's hiding place, then sorted and cleaned if necessary. Later I need to give myself a bit of a trim too, as the dulux dog look is in again .
Tea tonight will be whatever can be cobbled together from the fridge leftovers, so it maybe a strange concoction :rotfl:. There is some strudel left so pudding is catered for :j.
Hester I meant to ask if the dog is a particular breed or a heinz type. BTW I am always up for a bit of sponge tasting, just for quality control you understand

NMLC glad you enjoyed your break.
TopsyT hello
Right no more procrastinating, the ironing calls
. ( Can you tell I hate ironing !! )
Take care and hugs to all.

Morning all! Beautiful sunny day here, have been thinking about the stuff that is to be done. In the spirit of finishing a job, the porch is going to happen next week.I'm not looking forward to taping up lots of glass panels to paint around, but it'll keep me out of mischief. I think i will also sneakily throw away the mattress upstairs which has seen better days being as i bought it nearly ten years ago. This means I can give away or get rid of the bed frame, which means the house will be that little bit emptier...Some of the curved bolts have gone missing over the years it was mantled and dismantled [I'm making words up now] shame, the frame is still strong.
So that's my week ahead planned. Today wil be mostly trying to not to eat everything in sight [ result of tablets, so have resorted to changing when I take them to see if that makes a difference] or at least fruit if I do.
SO, how's it going? TA,yep take it easy and enjoy the silence of builders...AOD, you managed tea and toast? Fabulous! Do more of that! Nelski, hope you're enjoying yourself...RR, sciatica is a b*tch....HH, happy cooking ;eek! Hey Holly, nice to see you..
Wotcha missings
Motionless Monday...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
A late 'good morning' from me. Outside is sunny though I suspect that there’s not much heat being sent out.
The task of tempting DM to eat better continues – today I’m taking her in a flask of butternut and carrot soup along with tiny pieces of bread and pate. Chewing is difficult for her, I think that she likes texture so she’s trying different things. The hospital food is brought in from the main kitchens in the large infirmary which is about four miles away. So far the omelettes appear to be made from powered eggs.
I’ve got a small washing load in the machine as I’m still existing on the same three tops I brought with me on 05 March.
Now I must shift myself. My thoughts are with those struggling or sagging, hope we can all help hold you up.
Happy Monday to all.0
