I'm about 4 years short, an 12 years to state pension age.You do realise that unless you are already past State Pension age that you are limited to purchasing only the past six years.
What on earth do you imagine would be means tested? The pension or the NI contributions? Neither case is going to happen.

That's just a scare story but in any case the UK state pension is effectively means-tested already as it is subject to income tax.I'm about 4 years short, an 12 years to state pension age.

Now that life expectancy has plateaued the only concern regarding the viability of the state pension would be if we don't see continued immigration supplying fit young workers paying income tax to fund it.0
