Tax due in 2018/19 on 54k on code 1100l is £858 per month not £500.

I wonder if it is relevant that the OP alternates between talking about child benefit and “child care payments”. Perhaps the under payment of tax relates to Tax-free Childcare allowance?0

UPDATE After 8 weeks (in case anyone else has this issues) I finally spoke to someone who was incredibly helpful, it seems my income/outgoings perplexed them and they seen I had deficit cash after outgoings. Once I explained I actually have £100 at the end of each month and 2 loans ending in 4 months but could repay £100 starting now, they have reversed my tax code back, will reimburse my tax paid to date and review in 5 months to see if I can increase the repayments (as two loans will have finished)0
