Sent away the letter a few weeks ago (recorded delivery) and have heard nothing.

It was a £500 loan, which will be paid off on 15th January 2008 (see siggy) and the PPI was a whopping (for the size of loan) £280, over half the loan amount!

It is complicated by the fact that in September this year we did try to claim the PPI, after OH (the loan is in his name) was made redundant, BUT, it took so long to get anywhere, we ended up making every payment anyway.

Printing out FO compliant right now (as BF have not replyed and when hubby called, no record of a letter) highlighting the following reasons for it being mis-sold.

Salesperson did not tell us it was optional (infact told us it was compulsory)
Salesperson was very pushy

And the fact that we were not given time alone to read over the T&C's.

Will keep updating as and when things happen.

Well, had a reply (little late) from both the FO and HFC bank.

HFC (BF) have said they are looking into the complaint and will be in contact in 28 days, and the FO simply acknowledged receipt of the complaint.

    Now to wait.

out of interest which branch was this that you took the loan out of ?
  • I used to work for this company a few yrs ago (wont say in what capacity) and they have up to 4 weeks to acknowledge and confirm if claim accepted or not - it doesn't matter if you have made the payments as if claim qualifies/accepted, you will still get these back so i would pursue response to your claim - I can get you details of the company that does their ppi if you want so you can chase direct but you might already have this number
Also, make a complaint to branch in writing (rec delivery) and ask for reply if you want to pursue mis-selling (as the will be looked at seriously)
You can't have both though - you cannot claim and complain about mis-selling (obviously)
You wouldn't get a refund as ppi been running too long now (T&C's)

If it was me, I would pursue the claim and at least try and get your last few instalments paid (more money in your pocket)
  • P.S.

FO will not do anything until it has been through their full complaints procedure (up to 12 weeks) and will not even look at it until this time

    I'm not making a claim.

The claim on the PPI was last year, and it took over 4 months for them to 'look at the claim', by which time my husband had gotten another job. And no, we did not get any payments already made while he was unemployed, back.

We are at the moment complaining about mis-selling.

The complaint to the FO was started after BF denied that they had received the complaint (sent recorded delivery, and recoded as delivered).

AFTER we sent the complaint to the FO, BF, wrote to us telling us that the complaint had been received and it was being dealt with.
