Maternity leave/holidays

Hi again,
Didn’t want to post and not update. So it’s all sorted now. Sent a screenshot of the policy to my manager after double checking my interpretation of it with the union, and it definitely wasn’t the case that you can only take ‘earned/accrued’ leave before you start mat leave, not with my employer anyway. You can definitely take your full entitlement and only if u then decided to leave before the end of the holiday year would you have to pay any unearned hols back, just the same as anyone who is leaving and owes holidays. So it’s all been okay’d now.
They probably aren’t too keen on me as someone suggested to be honest. I’ve been off sick a lot with this pregnancy due to having hyperemesis & spent a good bit in hospital so doubt they’re my biggest fans for being absent so much. To be honest it was never my plan to finish so early and I’d rather have more time off with the baby but unfortunately hasn’t worked out that way but the end is in sight :T0 -
The company can't have it both ways. They can't tell you you have to use the holiday and then deny you the only dates which will enable you to do so. Some form of compromise is required which may require them to permit some of the leave to be carried into the next financial year.0

If it were me I'd be fairly happy letting you go on holiday as its easier to plan and they can hire if they wish for a year now pretty much.
Glad its sorted.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
Statutory accrual only applies in the first 12 months of employment.
(1/12 of allowance on the 1st of the month)
It is very hard to implement a legal and practical accrual system.
If you are going to be sick a lot carry the holiday to the end unless you need the money. Not a lot of point being on holiday and sick.0 -

There is one other thing to be aware of:Pregnancy-related illnesses
Maternity leave and Statutory Maternity Pay will start automatically if the employee is off work for a pregnancy-related illness in the 4 weeks before the baby is due - it does not matter what has been previously agreed.Signature removed for peace of mind0
