Creditors still chasing

Hi,
Can someone advise how long after bankruptcy creditors stop sending threatening letters?
My bankruptcy went through on the 9th April. I've rang HSBC this morning to explain I am bankrupt and my debt to them went into the bankruptcy. She then asked if i am able to pay anything or if i need breathing space to pay. I explained 3 times i won't be paying the debt but she still didn't understand.
I don't really want to contact the official receiver to ask as I don't want to bother him.
I am right in thinking I can ignore the letters? They can't take action against me?
Many thanks in advance.

Still happens occasionally to me nearly 5 years on. You can ignore or I found it best just to send them a copy of my bankruptcy order with a covering letter. I also send them a copy of the one they send me just to ensure it gets to the right department. Keep copies of everything.
I would like to think these companies are just ignorant of the law (but no excuse for HSBC) but I think they just try it on hoping you don't know the law too. Some people probably do pay up without realising they don't need to so it's obviously still worth it to the companies.Such a pain though!
