Fredrickson/Wescot

Hi all,

So i'm currently paying off an outstanding Aqua credit card debt through a company called Fredrickson, i've been paying £30 a month since January (maybe December), no issues have arisen & ive made every payment so far.

About 2 weeks ago i received a letter from Wescot claiming they were now taking control of the repayments & that they would be arranging the change over of the direct debit, i've not had anything from Fredrickson to confirm this, only Wescot. I've then received a letter from Wescot about week later saying they couldn't sort the direct debit change & that I needed to contact them to set up the new payment.

I've not done this as I wanted to wait to see if my payment to Fredrickson leaves my account on the first of the month.

Is this something that happens regularly, or am I right in acting suspicious?

Debts do get sold on so it could be that yours has. I am not sure though if Fredricksons buy debts or just collect them. Firstly I would check with Fredricksons and if they agree it has been passed on then do the same with Westcott as you have been doing.

I have debts with Wescot. They are just managing them they haven't bought them. Wescot have probably taken over and you should need to deal with them from now on. They are fine to deal with, we've had no issues whatsoever.

I'd get in touch with Fredricksons first, to check they are aware of the change over. In my view you should always get confirmation from the current agent about a change as mistakes can happen and you don't want to get screwed over by the incompetence of others.

Fredrickson are the owner of the debt.
Wescot only manage accounts on behalf of their clients.

Wescot will be acting under instruction from fredrickson, debt owners typically farm these accounts out to collections agencies all the time.
