Bank statement activity

In preparation for applying for a mortgage, could someone offer some advice as to what kind of activity on our bank statements might affect our chances of getting an offer?
For example, my partner likes a Saturday flutter on a football bet, he’s sensible so it’s nominal amounts eg. £1/£2 bets but it’s regular, I told him that may be frowned upon? Also we often transfer money between us, anything between £5 and £100, just for odd things like lunch or shopping etc. Does this look weirdo in the eyes of a lender?
Any other pointers appreciated please! Just want to make the application process as smooth as possible especially as we will likely be going sub prime.
Thanks

betting is frowned upon, but getting a broker to find the right lender is important and to explain everything
in terms of overall spending, they don't micromanage, but look at ONS figures. The stories of eating beans on toast is a myth spread by the daily fail"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Thank you, sorry what’s ONS?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I had around £80 a week on my bank statements but they didn’t even say anything about it0 -

Ah I see. That’s a fair bit more than us so hopefully we’ll be alright. We probably have to be a bit more careful as we’re in the adverse. Hope you had some good winnings! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I spend way more than that on Costa coffee every week and it wasn't a problem.
I would guess if its a minimal amount and your still well inside affordability criteria then unlikely to be a problem. If your stretching your budget to the absolute max then they will look far closer at the little things! Those who risk nothing, Do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothingMFW #63 £0/£5000 -
Regular small bets are frowned upon a lot less than infrequent big bets apparently.0

Are you using your own money to bet or are you betting whilst in your overdraft? The latter may cause questions. The amount isn’t that bad0
