Erudio student loan deferral
Options
So for the last 20 odd years I've been able to defer my student loans. They have told me that this year I have gone over the threshold. The reason..I'm going though s divorce so now get child maintenance (the minimal he could!!), and universal credit. So despite the fact I now have to pay the mortgage myself, look after the kids and there is only one income coming in, I have to pay the loan off! How is this allowed?? It seems so unfair.
I mentioned to them that I'd had the letter in December from them offering me the chance to half the amount to pay if I paid one lump sum. They said that had expired but they would investigate if they could offer it again.
Any advice really welcome. Loans would have been taken out between 1997, 98, 99.

Unfortunately maintenance payments do count. It's a bad system but what they're doing is legit in this instance. Sorry.0

So let me get this right, for the past 20 years you had the option to defer the student loan and you decided that suits you better.
Now that life have caught up with you and it's time to pay, it is unfair because you have gone over the threshold.
What did you think was going to happen, that this would go on indefinitely - welcome to the adult world.
Maybe you should see if you could make the student loan part of the divorce settlement - if you don't try, you won't know.0 -

Pretty brutal, even more brutal that if they do manage to receive 50% of the student loan from their disgruntled ex, then subsequently settle their loan in full if Erudio extend their offer.
Hmm, yeah... I'm gonna step away from this thread.Know what you don't0
