Pension company disappeared with money, help!

Hello,
New to the forums, so please be patient! Wonder if anyone can shed any light on a problem? My husband had a pension with Crown Financial Management, based in Woking, taken out in 1980's. We have recently tried to locate this company to find out what has happened to his money. They appear to have disappeared & we can't find any trace of them. The Pensions Regulator and Gvmt agency we contacted have not even replied to enquiries & we are now stuck as to how to proceed. It is a substantial enough sum to worry about, so would be really grateful if anyone has any idea where to go from here.
Many thanks
Julie G

From a simple google search, would you believe that a past "deputy actuary" of Crown Financial Management sits on the FSA's Regulatory Decisions Committee? See link below...

Snipped from the website...

Maybe you should contact the FSA. You could also search some more with google - you'll have to hone your search a little though, as my search through up 721,000 hits!!

Thanks to everyone for such a quick response. We have tried the FSA, but given this new info will pursue it again.0

There have been a number of companies called Crown Financial limited. But Mr. G.J. Ashby appears to have worked for the company you want:
