Paid for invisalign full but received lite

Options
Hi there

I recently went to the dentist to correct my teeth. My dentist recommended that I get invisalign full and the same is specified in my quote, which I paid for. However, the packed I received says "invisalign system - lite" and the number of trays I have is 14, which matches with invisalign lite. I suspect that, although he has charged me the full amount, he is hoping to get away with invisalign lite and keeping the difference for himself.

I'm trying to get in writing his cost for invisalign lite, but if there is a difference what are my rights? Is there anything I can do?

Thank you in advance!

With Invisalign the actual treatment planning is done at Invisalign and a computer works out the number of retainers needed for treatment.

A relatively easy problem that needs few teeth movements may be suitable for Invisalign lite and a problem that needs greater movement may need the standard Invisalign treatment or extensive Invisalign or may not be possible with Invisalign at all.. Standard Invisalign treatment can vary greatly in terms of number of retainers which changes the laboratory costs , by thousands of pounds.

The difference in the laboratory costs to the dentist in a simple case between lite and standard may not be all that great , it depends on the number of retainers. Invisalign is an expensive system .

Presumably you have discussed with the dentist the changes you want to have made ? It can often be the case that more retainers are needed , or different type of brace may be needed, or treatment may be longer than first envisaged. In these cases the dentist does not charge for the extra lab work and time. Very , very rarely cases take a shorter time .

In other words there is not much difference in the laboratory costs for Invisalign lite and a simple standard Invisalign case , and until you reach the end of treatment , there is no guarantee you may not need extra retainers/treatment.
