Do Royal Mail still give 'non delivery' cards ?

Today I received a message from a buyer who hasn't received their two parcels.

I checked the tracking numbers and Royal Mail tried to deliver on 13th April. Maybe they didn't leave a card.

A couple of months ago the same thing happened. Over a week had passed since the attempted delivery before contacting me.

I would have thought, if a card had been left, the buyer would have phoned Royal Mail.

Just as a matter of interest, if somebody doesn't receive a parcel, how long would sellers wait before offering a refund?

They do leave cards but for whatever reason the customer hasn't seen it. You never hear from all the customers who have seen the card, only the ones who didn't. i.e. you don't get a question, "where is my item, I have a red card here."

"how long would sellers wait before offering a refund? " You have 5 days from when they open a case assuming you don't have a tracking number.

OP, on the off chance your buyer didn't receive a card or has lost it why don't you send them the tracking number and advise which delivery office the parcels are at. It should tell you when you click to track your sent parcels. Parcels are kept by RM for 18 days so as long as you are in time the info is there. You can also suggest to your buyer they organise a redelivery at a date to suit them if they can't collect. That should hopefully go someway to preventing your items being sent back to you or you having to issue a refund for an INR claim.

I find they may or may not leave cards. Bit of a lottery.

I took some items in for my neighbour and when I finally managed to get them to open their door (nearly 2 days later) they were surprised I had their goods- they had had no card to say they were left with me - all that had was tracking saying 'item delivered'.

My depot won't let you collect a missed delivery without the card.

Yes they will, you can provide the tracking number instead. Alternatively they will redeliver if you have neither.

Are you really telling them what happens at THEIR depot?
A tracking number is not RM procedure to release a package.

Red card and ID meeting their criteria is required.
If you read the card it tells you that you MUST bring the car and ID to collect.
Only exception is the 'E p739'. Email or text from RM advising you that you can show that email/text to collect. still requires ID.
If you local office isn't following this then they aren't following RM procedure.
